We were looking for a fun, unique experience for our son's 14th birthday. As we looked for San Francisco Scavenger Hunts online, we came across City Clues Adventures. They offered scavenger hunts in Chinatown/North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, and Japantown. Beth, of City Clues Adventures, was very helpful in recommending a hunt for our group. We ended up choosing the Chinatown/North... More

My extended family of 10 wanted to explore San Francisco but we didn't want to do a traditional tour with a guide walking us around a city (my teen boys weren't interested in doing that). The scavenger hunt format was PERFECT for our group and a great way to explore Chinatown and North Beach. We split our group into two... More

We engaged City Clues last weekend to create a fun filled scavenger hunt throughout Chinatown and North Beach. It was such great fun for the children and the adults that we highly recommend to anyone else seeking to have an adventure in SF.

I attended the City Clues tour of Chinatown and North Beach with my 11 year old. This was a super fun scavenger hunt. The clues were not super simple, but not too difficult either. We had a great time using the scavenger hunt as a way to explore these neighborhoods. We got to see fortune cookies being made and enter... More

Thank you for your great review! We are glad you enjoyed yourselves and found the clues fun to solve. As far as scoring the clues, we have several versions of the hunt that are done simultaneously. For example families with young children get simple clues. Local families get tricky clues. We also have foreign language versions. That makes it difficult... More

On our daughters' first visit to San Francisco (ages 9 & 12), we booked a reservation with Beth on the City Clues tour and couldn't have spent a better morning - immersed in Chinatown and North Beach. Beth's expertly coordinated efforts guide family interaction, authentic discovery and ensure that you notice things you would NEVER have experienced on a casual... More

While visiting SF I wanted to do a guided tour, but wasn't sure a traditional tour would have worked with my youngest child, so we booked a City Clues Adventure tour. It turned out that my kids (ages 13 and 4) and I were the only ones signed up that day. I think the kids would have been more enthusiastic... More

The City Clues Adventures scavenger hunt was a great addition to our bachelorette trip. Beth and Linda were great! They had customized a wedding-themed/bachelorette-trip scavenger hunt with inclusion of food clues and cocktail stops for us. The cost of food was included in the price, but the cocktails were not--which was great because some of us don't drink! All the... More

We booked a family scavenger hunt tour the first day that we arrived in SF and it was a perfect way to start the vacation! There was so many hidden treasures, fun little games, and enough variety that kept my whole family entertained for 3.5 hours (which is not an easy task!).

City Clues Adventures is a perfect way to tour the different neighborhoods of San Francisco. Our two kids (7 and 9) loved visiting so many hidden gems: like the Chinese Temple (somewhere I never would have known I could enter). The friendly competition of the scavenger hunt certainly kept the kids (and the parents) motivated. The day was fantastic day.... More

We had three families combined into two teams competing on a scavenger hunt with adults, kids and teens. We had so much fun exploring the city - no time to stop and shop we were on a mission. We highly recommend this to groups, families and anyone that has adventure and fun on their mind.

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
