This is where the San Francisco ballet perform each winter through spring, and it's a lovely place to enjoy a ballet. For ballet, try for the box seats. Side ones are restricted view but a good deal. Box seats are regular chairs that are not locked together so are pretty spacious. Box area offer their own toilets (needed if you're... More

My mom, sister and myself took my young daughter to San Francisco in December to see the Nutcracker ballet. She is 6 years old and absolutely loved it. She was literally on the edge of her seat and clapping loudly when it was time to clap. It was a magical show and I would definitely recommend it and go again.... More

I read all the bad reviews of the Opera but it was my first time ever and I loved it! This review is about the Opera house and not MB! My sis and I went to the city just for my birthday and to see the opera! Something I had never done and after fighting cancer all last year it... More

First opera experience. The venue was very nice. Large and grand. Even balcony seats were still good enough without binoculars nor obstruction. Sound was good. The performance was good but interpretation of time period a little quirky (Pharoh's army wearing modern WWII type uniforms with some almost Nazi like). Our teenagers didn't like it but that had more to do... More

I didn't go on a tour of the War Memorial Opera House, but I did see a performance of an opera there. The building is stunningly beautiful. WOW! My favorite aspect of the entire lovely edifice was the golden woman upon a golden horse above the stage. My second favorite aspect was the lovely way the curtain rose before the... More

Small guided tours lasting roughly 20 minutes that cost just one dollar. The staff are very helpful and informative although they do tend to repeat themselves. It's a beautiful venue and one that I would thoroughly reccomend you go and visit if you get the chance.

It just so happened that we were planning on coming here on Monday which coincided with the tours they offer between 10am-2pm on the hour. The tour starts at the Davies Symphony Hall entrance (Grove St side) and was $7 per adult ($5 for seniors). The tour lasted around 80 mins although I'm not sure if it's supposed to be... More

Just took a backstage tour of the San Francisco Opera House; absolutely breathtaking. Of course the place itself is beautiful. but on this tour, we also saw the dressing rooms, the gorgeous costumes, the workers preparing the stage for tonight's opera, the workings of pieces of stage that they lower when someone has to fling themselves off a parapet. The... More

I recently spent an Opera weekend in SanFrancisco viewing a new production of Carmen, an exhilarating Don Carlo and a superb Janufa. This was my first time in this elegant, beautiful Beaux Art Building. I was truly amazed at its beauty, how well kept it is and how friendly the staff is to everyone. Upon entering the building one is... More

We came here to see the famous ballot Onegin and it was a wonderfully beautiful experience! One of our favourite ballets was played brilliantly in this nice building where, by the way, the United Nations was established.
