Don Gilette is a senior sales associate and knows his stuff. He says their small shop has over 700 different labels, all carefully selected, and he has tasted 98% of them. He can rattle off the history of any winery you might mention, and listens intently before making suggestions.

I could only take 2 bottles, and he steered me not to the very expensive ones, but the standouts for value/quality.

I truly wish this shop was in my hometown. It is stellar.

Ok, first of all, the prior reviewer gave this shop a one, mistaking it for one of the Napa wineries...this shop is so friendly and helpful and has so many different labels I could have brought home one of everything! Instead i left with the one reccommended Cab which was very good. Id go back again, and just might tomorrow!

I was looking for some wine to have sent back to the Midwest, some that I would not be able to get back there. Given that I prefer to support small producers, the staff made sure that my selections would indeed fit that criterion.

The senior wine specialist spent quite a bit of time with me, asking what foods I wished to pair with the wine. Even though I was a small-scale customer (5-6 bottles at a $25-25 price point), he was respectful and quite interested in my evolution as a wine drinker. And he's a hoot to boot! It was a very pleasant experience.

I was in town for a conference and unfortunately did not have time to indulge in a Napa Valley tour. Napa Valley Winery Exchange was less than a block from my hotel, though, so I was able to select wines to send back to the Heartland!

We went to this Napa Valley during our last day in San Francisco in Oct, as our flight is after midnight.

Their souvenir shop is very good, sells a lot of items, though we did not pick any.

Apparently, they also organized wine tours, but since none of our extended family members is a wine person, we skipped it.

Have heard that there is a wine train which is worth riding. However, due to time constraints that day, we did not manage to get onto it. Hopefully, maybe during our next trip to San Francisco, we will try it.

Managed to go into their vineyard. Managed to pick a lot of grapes from there. They tasted a bit sour though, I guess they are perhaps meant to be for making wine, and not for eating.

We could see the machine somewhere before we entered the yard, for squeezing the grapes too.

I remembered us going into a room to look at the history of wine making in USA. That is really informed and detailed.

If you're buzzing around Union Square looking for an inexpensive bottle of wine, you might not want to come here. But given that you'll likely overpay for that bottle anyway at one of the many little liquor outlets, you might as well treat yourself to quality wine from this wonderful shop. There are "under $20" choices on a rack by the window. Or you can browse the shelves for something really fine. What I especially loved was that there was no snobbery at the counter. They offered help calmly, and laid back if you preferred to browse.

Lots to choose from starting around $30. Lots of small batch wines. If you are into prestige wines, they have those too. Staff is very helpful.

Wonderful selection, a lot of the small batch wineries and various price ranges to suit all occasions. The staff is knowledge and very helpful, they will spend time with you and not necessarily push the more expensive option.

Napa Valley is the largest grape-growing area in California. It is best known for its wines. One must visit Clos Pegase, this winery has beautiful sculptures and fine art. One can also take the Napa Art Walk, the outdoor display of artists. The restaurants at the location also offer exquisite cuisine. The Napa Opera house is the place to be for theatre lovers. The Napa Valley is a scenic delight. The hill stations offer wonderful views from atop mountains. The Napa Valley and Napa Mountains are places one cannot afford to miss.

Impressive selection of Californian wine, mostly from the Napa Valley and mostly higher end. Definitely a good place to buy some wine from the region.
