Neighbourhood: Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.

It's a marvellous depiction of the great President. It shows him in thoughtful demeanour, with dignity and firm resolve.
It dates from 1926, sculptured by the Armenian-American artist Haig Patigian. It replaced an earlier one that was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake.

We have stood in front of this statue during protests and special marches. It sits just outside City Hall in a prominent spot. You might miss it.

This is a statue in front of the City Hall. We once stood in front of it for a long time during a demonstration. Just a statue, not really a tourist attraction.
