On June 7, 1974, Steve Silver produced a small show in the back room of the Savoy Tivoli Restaurant in San Francisco. The show was to run for six weeks. That was over 37 years ago... Today, Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon has the distinguished title of "World's Longest Running Musical Revue." The show - a musical spoof known internationally for its extravagant costumes, outrageous hats, show-stopping numbers and hilarious puns of pop culture and political character - has been seen by over 5.5 Million people, including HRC Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall as well as some of Hollywood's biggest stars. "Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon," hailed as "a constant cascade of showstoppers" by the "San Francisco Chronicle", follows Snow White as she takes a fast-paced journey around the world in search of her "Prince Charming." Along the way she encounters a star-studded, ever-changing line-up of hilarious political and pop-culture characters including Donald and Melania Trump, Adele, Hillary & Bill Clinton, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, President Barack & Michelle Obama, Hamilton, Bernie Sanders, Sia, Taylor Swift, Vladimir Putin, Chris Christie, Barbra Streisand, Miley Cyrus, Orange is the New Black, Empire's Cookie, Oprah and the San Francisco Giants

Extremely talented actors put on a great, topical show. Maybe slightly slanted toward making fun of conservative figures, but no one/thing really safe from poked fun. Recommend buying reserved seats to avoid the lineup and possible poorer seating. Plenty of taxis seemed to be "trolling" the area after the show, just in case you need transportation.

Used to live in San Francisco and go to see this whenever friends or family were in town. Now live in Florida so whenever we go back it's the first show we book. Not only is it funny and entertaining it is up to date and changes often with the times. Great venue too. Location excellent with too many fantastic... More

Wow, this was a fun evening. I understand that this has been running for years so must have had a huge number of rewrites/updates because it was bang up to date and featured a range of characters from current politics and the world of entertainment. It ranged from the Trump family to Kanye West ..actually maybe that isn't such a... More

We went to see the show on recommendation of a family member didn't quite know what to expect . It was the best show I have seen in a long long time the costumes are amazing and the head gear gets more and more amazing as it progresses . Love that so many of the performers have been in the... A friend recommended this show, and it did not disappoint! It is touted as the longest running musical review in the country, and is changed regularly to keep up with current events. The costumes are great, but the wigs are outrageous! This is 90 minutes of pure fun! A must see in San Francisco!

This really is hard to describe. Went with my husband and 19 year old son. Unfortunately my 16 year old son was ill and couldn't join us. We went to the family matinee because it was the only option for under 21. Got the cheapest seats which were fine. I wasn't sure what to expect but the best way we... More

What a great theater production. It is pure San Francisco. It is a comedy that takes pot shots at all aspects of our culture whether it be liberal or conservative, republican or democrat. Though you can surely tell the leaning of the audience. The costumes especially the head where is unbelievable to see. There is not a bad seat in... More

Thank you for the review of BBB! Our wigs and hats are something you have to see to believe. The theater is small so, as you mentioned, there isn't a bad seat in the house. We hope to see you again soon! More

Fun show, loved the satire. Venue has such a vintage feel. No food or drink at Sunday matinee? Other than that it was great.

Thanks for the review of BBB! Beach Blanket was been performing at Club Fugazi for about 40 years. The Club serves non-alcoholic beverages on Sundays, as well as light snacks for every performance. More

Show was so funny and very clever use of costumes and huge hats. Was tailored to suit current events and stars and well linked together from character to character. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
