Macy’s Union Square is exactly that ….another Macy’s store with all the stuff sold by Macy’s anywhere. Nothing special.

This is just a typical department store that offers a nice view of Union square.
We weren't looking for anything in particular so we just browsed through a couple of floors and left.

It's a big department store and a bit hard to figure out as everything is arranged by designer. So if you want a shirt, you don't go to the shirt department, you wander aimlessly looking at what all the designers offer. I usually leave empty-handed since I am overwhelmed and unhappy. Not a success.

This was our first visit to Macy's since the pandemic and we were very dissapointed.
Lots of empty shelves, limited stock, and very few sale offers.
The staff all seemed a little uniterested as well.
Thought it might just be this store (downtown San Francisco is very rundown and clearly has a major homeless and shoplifting problem) but we experienced similar in Fresno the next day.

TIP: Go to the highest floor of the building, there you will find a Cheesecake Factory, from the balcony of the place, you will get one of the best views of Union Square

My Macy's S.F. Union Square experience was delightful. I came to purchase sunglasses and found a good deal. On top of it, the lady (Olga from Belarus, if I remember correctly) who assisted me was charming and helpful. She is a real treat to talk to, and she made my shopping experience enjoyable. And this is coming from a guy who does not like shopping. Macy's was able to ship my sunglasses home free of charge. Which I find very convenient because my luggage was running out of space. My sunglasses arrived 3 days after my purchase in excellent condition. We walked around the store after that, and it was clean and all the team members were professional and friendly.

I have never enjoyed shopping here as they arrange the clothing by the designer, so if I am looking for a coat, I have to wander through at least a dozen spread out areas looking at all the coats by designer. Lately the store has been empty. It seems to be crashing.

We were here during the day, and I think that they were setting up for Christmas. A lot cleaner than it was my last visit, as there seemed to be more of a police presence. I felt safe, but like any city you have to be street smart.

Love Macy’s and their selection of clothing and home stuff. We visited recently for Christmas tree lighting at union square and it was very well organized event. We shopped for home stuff, toys and clothing. There are restaurants like Cheesecake Factory , starbucks within the store. Highly recommended

Kind of old fashioned these days, this is a classic department store on Union Square. 8 floors or so of shopping. It was quite the mad house on Black Friday. They have a discount store on the 8th floor that reminds me of a Walgreens, would skip that. SantaLand is on floor seven. Both designer and more affordable clothes and housewares spread throughout. Some nice deals in each of the clearance sections. They have a pretty good, but crowded food court.
