The world’s only aquarium-planetarium-rainforest-living museum. Come nose-to-beak with penguins and parrots, watch sharks and sting rays cruise beneath your feet, and feel the spray of the California coast. Fly to Mars (and beyond the Milky Way!) from the safety of your planetarium seat, take a virtual safari in African Hall, or climb into the canopy of a living rainforest. Face your fears—and an albino alligator—inside the Swamp, and meet scientists as they return from research expeditions around the world. From the depths of a Philippine coral reef to the outer reaches of the Universe, it's all inside the California Academy of Sciences.

GREAT!

This was not part of the plan but I'm glad we went! The earthquake simulator was kinda cool although I was a bit dizzy afterwards. All the exhibits were amazing!

We bought the SF City Pass to get a discount on entry. You have to have your proof of purchase printed - not just on your phone. So plan ahead. Then you wait in the ticket line. Then wait in line again in the entry line. Put someone in both lines so you can jump in the second line after... More

A pretty good museum, but not as good as we expected. In part, the issue for us was the result of just a couple of days prior we visited the Monterrey Aquarium which is outstanding. The problem for us then, was that the Cal Academy of Sciences museum is about 50% aquarium which, though good, is NOT as good as... More

I visited the Academy during some of the strongest winds the State had seen for years. The academy was open as per usual and I spent a whole day there, exploring as much of the academy as I could. On arrival, I rushed to watch "Incoming" at the planetarium. It was amazing, informative & I was really impressed to hear... More

I would say - make it a whole day of fun. I am not a science buff - but the exhibits are so cool. We did not have enough time for the planetarium but we did manage to grab a bite at the "very green" food place. Organic food and drink.. I totally agree that this is more interesting than... More

We thought this museum is absolutely fantastic, hugely varied and interactive, great presentation throughout. Initially thought was a bit expensive but well worth the money, excellent visit for anyone!

The huge aquarium and multiple tanks surprised me! So much in fact I think it's better than the aquarium of the bay! It was def my fav part of this little outing.

CALIFORNIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCES - We have had annual passes to the Academy of Science several times when the children were younger. This is a great place to visit for the whole family. We like looking at the stream of alligators, the rain forest is fabulous, the naturalist center, the Discovery Tidepool is hands on and fun for children and... More

After waiting in lines at the door, we waiting in more lines inside for some of the exhibits...and they were OK. Enjoyed our time, but too many people, with exhibits that weren't interesting enough to wait for.
