Free art on show in May 23
The second floor gallery is free admission for anyone visiting in May 2023. This was a lovely surprise and gave us access to some fabulous art, including an early Jackson Pollock. A real treat and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting this month for a free morning out.

Good Fun and Great Contemporary Art
A wonderful modern art museum with a fascinating array of contemporary artist & exhibits. The current "Yayol Kusama Show" is deceptively simple, just 3 installations: 2 with interactive art (2 mins. allowed in each room) and the fabulous gigantic pumpkin tea pot (10 -12 Ft. long) and multi-lit walkway on the 6th floor. 3 Cafes': "Grace" full menu, 2nd floor "Steps Coffee Stop" & "Cafe 5" on the 5th floor are perfect for quick lunch or afternoon "break". Parking Garage: is on Minna Street a right turn off 3rd Street "just past the Museum's front entrance (on Minna go to "2nd garage entry").

Famous ones - warhol, rothko, picasso, kahlo, matisse, mondrien, indiana, calder etc. just to name a few The yayoi exhibition has 2 rooms (2 min each), and a newly done (2023) giant pumpkin(s). Tickets sell out months in advance Multiple cafes to rest your feet at 9/10

One of the worst museums I have ever been to. I thought the items on display were terrible. Could not believe the rubbish I was looking at. And I was not the only one. Absolutely sh*te. Glad the tickets were free.

Absolutely wonderful art work throughout, if you like contemporary art.

We were in awe by their amazing 6th floor which featured modern German artists. Terrific collection of about 8 Anselm Kiefers, as well as others. A real surprise was this German woman artist who did this outstanding series of photos about fans for featuring about 6 music groups like the Grateful Dead, Abba, Britney Spears--so interesting how that came about.

We weren't impressed with their sculpture gallery--was expecting so much more. Rreally enjoyed their 2nd floor, which is free to the public. Some really terrific pieces in there. Don't miss this one!

25 USD gets you into what is probably the best museum in town.
We spent over 2 hours enjoying the modern art displays throughout the museum, which vary from stunning to bizarre.
Skip the Grace restaurant in the museum, as it's expensive and the food isn't great.

If you like modern art, this is the place for you. They have a wide collection of all types of modern art - from paintings to photos to sculptures to creatively created music to plants - you name it - it's there. I, personally, never understood or appreciated modern art - but still, was able to appreciate the wide range of choices. I can say that I liked the mirrored walkway - as did many others - given the line and the wait to walk inside and ask friends/family to take your picture. Also note that the first Thurs of the month is free. Be sure to actually purchase (for $0 cost) the number of tickets you need, as they still scan the tickets at the entry and it will go faster if you have the tickets "purchased" and on your phone to scan.

The museum has a modern design, and is located nearby the W hotel. It has a total of seven floors, each having about 60 or so modern artworks. Floor 1 and 5 both have a cafe, and floor seven has a terrace.

We traveled on a rainy weekend, so this was perfect for us--much to see, there is also a restaurant on site as is a coffee shop. Tickets were reasonable as was the price for parking. We strolled through the museum leisurely for 6 hours, there is much to see.

Museum is located downtown, in a 6-story building, and parking is underground-arrive early because it does get crowded.
