I had been to sfmoma years ago and remembered it fondly. This trip I was decidedly underwhelmed at the art. We spent a lot of time in the photography area and again, underwhelming.

I had just a day in San Fran and almost everyone I mentioned it to told me to check out the SFMOMA. So glad I did. They offer a wide variety of modern art and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the afternoon there.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a big modern art fan. that said, the architecture of the building is quite interesting. It was worth (one) trip for me, cut lovers of modern art would probably like it much better.

As far as MOMAs go the San Francisco one of (if not the) best. So much to see, you can easily spend an afternoon wondering around this museum.

The art here ranges from provocative to preposterous, which is pretty much the case with most modern art museums. Some works were excellent, while others were silly and pretentious. (A square of wood painted white is art? Please.) Worth a visit if you appreciate modern...More

I've been here several times for special exhibits and to the regular collection. It's casual and friendly and easy to get around. Inexpensive for San Francisco. They have parking!

South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated
vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs
and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to
find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter
for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able
to do more than just business - museums, top quality
restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call
this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized
