Sachs and the other exhibit were surreal. Not sure I understood either. I'm a space buff whose mom is an artist, so I've seen some far out exhibits in my time. Trying to understand the statement both artists were trying to convey.

Enjoyed a wonderful show. We were a group of 4 couples with varying degrees of interest in ballet (some had none)! By the end of the show all of us were up clapping & cheering with a big smiles on our faces & snowflakes in our hair. The show was great for everyone! The program started out with very classical... Candidly, we very were disappointed in the content and quality of the exhibits here. The museum sign “Art of Making Things Happen” led to a let-down. We anticipated a more creative museum experience (think proactively, advancing the human race through ingenuity). Not here, not for me.

Wonderful, well-organized, if small gallery of modern, politically-engaged art. Not very expensive to get in ($10 normally, $8 for students and teachers), with about four large galleries to go through. I remember all of them making an impression-- from the parody music video advocating for trans rights and racial equality to the 3D printing of gun components to the wall... More

The Showcase is a wonderful evening - we come from Sacramento and don't know anybody in the Ballet School. But the quality of the dancing and the presentation make it a lovely evening. The theatre itself is very nice - we sat in the balcony and had no trouble seeing the stage. I don't think there are any "bad" seats.

Came to see the Smuin Ballet and was greatly entertained. Perfect venue for dance. Centrally located, we spent a short time across the street at the SF Museum of Modern Art. Afterwards, there was an open air event in the park itself.

The location of this venue is very central, next to major hotels et al. The programming is greta, too but gosh, the seats! If you are seated on the side there is no way you can see a whole show without having neck pain. And if you are in the center, you still get this old-fashioned outdated seats. Needs some... More

Some of the most interesting modern art is showcased here. It's evolved over the years and today is somewhat better. The exhibits can be meh or wow, the range is quite large.

Yerba Buena is a lovely venue for dance performance. It feels intimate, but spacious, and we've had good viewing from every seat we've had in a dozen or so visits. It's best accessed by public transit (super easy, on every Muni car line, get off at 4th & Market), and also near a huge variety of restos & cafes. The... More

Nice small venue with good sight lines and acoustics. Chairs are not very comfortable and led to a couple of aching backs after about an hour. Easy to order through ticket service on line but print at home did not work and the box office is hard to reach by phone due to limited hours. Stopped by during the day... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
