This was once part of San Francisco's skid row, but years after the bulldozer and urban renewal, it's now a lovely and lively garden surrounded by cultural institutions. Perfect place for a picnic, or just to rest your feet.

The Yerba Buena Gardens are located above the Moscone North convention center so it is a peaceful and relaxing getaway during breaks in the conference. The MLK memorial is here as well as green space, flower gardens and a small restaurant.

A great place to hang out and read or watch people. Some grass to lay in to get some sun, but most concrete and some water features. Clean and not vandalized, so I liked it. It says no pets allowed, which seems odd.

A very good example to make a cultural space , showing nature with their gardens and integrated to classic ancient arquitecture. Near Moscone center . You can walk you can eat a meal or just enjoy the view

The Garden was an unexpected refuge from the downtown bustle. Beautiful winding walkways, manicured lawns, a moving tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., imaginative play spaces for young and old, ample seating for conversation or contemplation, and a nearby food court or more upscale dining options combined to make this a very 'usable' urban greenspace. Meanwhile, it's just steps... More

I don't see what the fuss is about. Too much concrete, too small to begin with and the part that is grass is obstructed by police barricades (have no idea why?!?) I would say it's a nice spot to take your lunch or to walk for a couple minutes after one's lunch, but otherwise it is a non-event.

Wasn't planning on visiting this park as it just opened up for us to see when we turn the corner. Great lawn area to relax and seating as well. Good place to sit and just watch everybody doing there thing. If you're doing a lot of walking downtown this is a good place to take a break.

Just blocks from the SF Museum of Modern Art (SF MOMA), next to the Contemporary Jewish Museum, and out the back door of the Marriott Marquis, are the Yerba Buena Gardens. These gardens offer a nice place to relax and soak in the greenery amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Grab takeout from one of the local restaurants/street... More

It's kind of nice on a sunny day, but a lot of homeless dudes hang out there and one can be overwhelmed by the scent of old pee wafting past they nostrils.

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
