Very sad to see most businesses closed. There were only two restaurants open. The rest was all shut down, boarded up. You could so so much with it. Had chowder at The Chowder House, good.

Faultless all round, service, food, drinks, friendliness welcome we’ve had in US. Our last visit was 20 years ago and this time lived up to our pleasant memories.
Next time here, we think we’ll stay in their hotel. Great, thank you.

We had a pleasant walk among the cafes and stores at The Cannery. This used to be a working fruit cannery and thus the name. NIce Views in the area.

It used to be the Del Monte fruits and vegetables canning factory. in 1968 the factory was closed, renovated and became a place for galleries, shops, restaurant and a theater. The building is impressive and creat a special atmosphere for those who come to visit, shop or eat here.

In 1907 Del Monte fruits and vegetables opened there Plant #1 in San Francisco producing 200,000 cans a day and then using San Francisco's port to ship products worldwide. Now this site is home to shops, great food outdoors and music. This was the first transformation from a working factory to a retail center in the United States. Great outdoor vibe. Check out the off Broadway theater. Lots to do and see.

The Cannery was founded in 1907 as a canning plant for vegetables and fruits. Its original owners was the California Fruit Company which became Del Monte. One of the few large areas that escaped complete destruction in the San Francisco Earthquake, the Cannery was operated by Del Monte until 1937.

Located right on the wharf. Renovated in the late 1960s, the Cannery is now an historic landmark with more than 30 shops and restaurants. .

A building with a lengthy history, it was great to visit it. With admirable brick work, a testament to its provenance, it is a part of the city's story.

Built in the years after the 1906 quake it served for a few decades as the main canning premises for the Del Monte Co., with its famous Man From advertisement. Its proximity to the then port made it ideal for exporting the canned fruit and vegetables.

It has a pleasant courtyard, numerous eateries and retail. The exhibition at the Academy of Art University Galleries comprised the Annual Veterans Exhibition with interesting art works on display.

Historic building but at this point not many shops or restaurants open. Disappointing as this seems like it would be a great location. I was there a number of years ago and it was much livelier.

While walking back to our hotel from dinner and in search of something sweet, we passed a man eating ice cream and he directed us to Norman’s in The Cannery. What an interesting venue, it is the old Del Monte Cannery which has been restored into a shopping and fine dining complex. There are three stories of restaurants, shops, bars, cafes, and even a comedy club. You will be amazed when you take a stroll underneath 130-year-old olive trees. It was originally built in 1907 for the canning operation of Del Monte . Del Monte operated here for more than 30 years and was the largest canning location in the U.S. for most of that time.
