We walked down to the cable car stop from Union Square to minimise waiting time and travelled over the hill to the ferry. A great trip across the Bay took us to Sausalito for lunch then a bus up the hill to the Bridge. Absolutely recommend the walk over the bridge - the views are fantastic! No trouble to get... More

A visit to the San Francisco a is not complete without visiting the Golden Gate Bridge. Make sure you take some extra time, park and walk across the bridge. Defiantly as experience you cannot miss.

Well, it's a bridge. And it's a big bridge. And it's iconic. Mostly, it's iconic. It really was beautiful to see at night.

The Golden Gate Bridge is a must-see for any tourist. It is a historical sight and a great addition to a boat or walking tour, but once you check it off your list you don't need to visit again. Definitely an important piece of history and architecture.

My first glimpses of the Bridge from afar were tantalisingly beautiful. Up close, its structure was quite remarkable. Constructed between 1933 and 1937, the Golden Gate was the first really large suspension bridge in the world. Its span of 4200 feet ranked it the world's longest until 1959. It was designed to withstand wind speeds of up to 100 mph... More

I had visited SFO 24 years ago, and enjoyed views of the Golden Gate Bridge from below on a boat trip. This time, it was a pleasure over 2 days to explore at least 20 different vantage points for photos as well as walking across the bridge itself. What a photogenic piece of history!

We hired bikes and rode over the Golden Gate Bridge (via the waterfront, through the city and via pier 39 to see the sealions) all the way to Salsalito and caught the ferry back to the waterfront . It was a fantastic day out and really well suited if you have a good level of fitness (lots of steep hills... More
