This place is gorgeous and a must see when you visit San Francisco. Kid-friendly and dog-friendly. There were lots of wedding and other formal pictures being taken. Lots of wildlife. Look for the branch covered in turtles. The kiddos loved it!

We walked there from our hotel on Lombard St. and then went down to the water. Very nice and relaxing. If you're in a car I'm not sure where you'd find parking. Easy to spend some time there. Nice benches and good shade.

A must to see! Tranquil, Romantic and Beautiful are just a few words to discribe this truly magnificent park. It's like a Roman Pavilion with huge pillars surrounded by a lake with a fountain in the centre, full of fish and ducks. You can walk around or bring a picnic with you and just sit, relax and enjoy the scenery.... More

We drove by on our way across the Golden Gate Bridge and had to go back. The lagoon and Corinthian structures were wonderful. I need to learn more of the history of the park . I am sure a lot of donations were made to preserve the structure, those citizens had the vision of the beauty of this area. Take... More

It's mind boggling that its original purpose and why it was built, was for a fair! Where today, a fair is a place you go in shorts and a t-shirt, this was obviously not how people dressed to come see this back then! It's nice to visit both in the daytime and after dark.

If you are looking for a picturesque spot in SF, then this is a great option. The architecture is very grand, the park is extremely pretty and you can take some wonderful pictures. It's not a huge place, but worth bringing a picnic and watching the world go by on a sunny day.

An interesting example of why some things need to be saved. It was built to mimic a ruin, which it actually became when it began to crumble. Constructed originally for an exhibition, designed as a fictional ruin from another time, beloved by those that saw it, preserved, repurposed, fell apart... and then totally rebuilt. I hope they fix the grounds.... More

The building has great architecture and the grounds are scenic with a pond. Worth checking out when in San Francisco.

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
