Considered a "small" lake, this is an incredibly beautiful place and worth the time to visit. Can get some amazing pictures here. Keep an eye out for wildlife.

This rather small lake is stunningly beautiful and not to be missed when in Bar Harbor. Surrounded by forests it is a gorgeous spot to spend time.

Rode the bike trail around, which nearly killed us because we were expecting grades and were towing the dog in her cart! Anyway, it's beautiful. But sometimes you can't see the lake at all. There are LOTS of folks that ride this trail, so crowded.

We arrived about 6:30pm on a weekday and had no trouble parking in the small lot near the north end of Eagle Lake. We walked the short trail toward the lake and saw wide gravel walking trails and directional signage but did not have time to check out these trails. We just walked down to the lake’s edge for a few photos.

From the parking lot, walk east on the road a short distance to see the beaver pond. In the late afternoon light, it was very pretty and we saw two beaver lodges on opposite sides of the pond.

Eagle Lake is lovely and pristine. The water is incredibly clear. There is a carriage path that goes around part of the lake where one may bike or walk.

We took the carriage road trail around the lake and was fairly easy. There are some hills but nothing too hard.

The walk around the Eagle Lake Carriage road is an iconic ANP experience. The road is recently rebuilt and there is so much to see. Give yourself at least 1.5 hours or more to soak it all in.

Eagle lake is within Acadia National Park of Mount Desert Island. It is a beautiful little lake surrounded by forests. There are carriage roads around the lake and a hiking trail along its south shore. At the time we visited one section of the carriage road around the lake was closed so you couldn't do a full loop around the lake. It was a great place to enjoy the fall colors and somewhat more peaceful than the busiest parts of the park.

We enjoyed the quiet, offseason hike (although requires ice cleats). It is well marked and easy trail to navigate.

Supposedly the colors were post-peak, but we couldn't tell that from this mid-week hike. The carriage road was lovely, but we chose to drop down to the trail along the lake when we had an opportunity to do so. If you are up for scrambling over the rocks I recommend it.
