This free bus service has several routes and reduces the number of cars in Acadia National Park and the area. Buses are frequent, convenient, and cover a wide area.

Sorry but you must be thinking of another service. Island Explorer does not conduct tours.

This is the best way to navigate the island as a tourist. This bus goes everywhere you need to go. If you are looking to ride the carriage trails - absolutely use the shuttle that runs every 30 minutes to Eagle lake. This is particularly...More

The Island Explorer is a bus line for free which drives on different routes around the island. Its perfect to visit different cities and still have a drink at a restaurant. Or visit the Acadia Oktoberfest and taste some beers!

This is a great way to see Acadia National Park. Our driver was roger who was very entertaining. The tour covers the highlights of the park without the worry of parking. Also takes time for travelers to take photos. Highly recommended.

We parked in Trenton and take the buses all around. Very nice to have free transportation. Many trails offered. They have a panel downtown where you change the buss, panel that shows the times of the next routes.

Yes the Acadia Gateway Center would be a good place to park. You can get a bus from there to the Village Green in Bar Harbor where you can purchase your park entry passes and learn how to use the bus system. By the way... More
