We loved using these free shuttles sponsored by LL Bean to go back and forth from our hotel to town. They are less convenient for the Park as you need to change shuttles and they only come on the half hour. Note the last runs of the night fill up and so you want to line up and take a... More

We used the Explorer bus throughout our Acadia explorations. No parking problems, no worries with the road. Drivers were friendly and mostly punctual. highly recommend.

By taking the bus tour you didn't have to figure out where to go and didn't have to hunt for a parking spot.! I think we saw everything we had planned to see.

So thanks to LL Bean and the other donations from many different sectors and generous individuals, the tourists as well as us locals who don't want to deal with the summer traffic of 3 Block Downtown Bar Harbor can get a free ride pretty much anywhere on the island, safely, cleanly, and timely, And they also take bikes, if you... The most useful (and free) service on the island. It enables you to avoid parking hassles and enables you to do point-to-point hikes without being tied down to "where did we leave the car?". there are eight routes that will get you to and from almost everywhere. There is no service to Schoodic but there is a route at Schoodic.... More

Bus tour was comfortable but picture taking was limited. Lots of foliage color. Windows are tinted and movement was too fast to take good pictures. Driver was knowledgeable and humorous.

Difficult to get on if cruise ships were in port. $12 per person Park entry only really good value if you intend to do some of the walks. Ticket lasts a week and ours were never checked over the 2 days we were there. We passed them to hotel staff to give to other visitors. No scenic views if the... More

Mount Desert island is beautiful, especially in the Acadia National Park which offers enough possibilities to drive around, to cycle or to hike. The views from the mountains are very nice.

This is a clean air bus (heated, which was great) that picks you up from local hotels and takes you around Arcadia. Problem is there are no times posted at the stops and no clear idea of what the stop name is. The frequency is only every 30 mins. You need to carry the shuttle map with you. Most Drivers... More
