Downeast Windjammer Cruises A morning, afternoon or sunset sail with legendary Downeast Windjammer Cruises is fun for the whole family. Each offers a leisurely sail among the island of Frenchman Bay aboard one of two historic schooners: the twin-masted *Bailey Louise Todd* and the 151-foot *Margaret Todd*, the first four-masted schooner to work New England waters in over half a century. Guests can view Acadia National Park from the sea, watch lobster men hauling their traps, see the bay's abundant wildlife, have a picnic, or just relax on the spacious decks of these historic sailing vessels. There are three trips daily, each approximately 1.5 to 2 hours long. All cruises are dog friendly. For a different adventure take a ride on one of our ferries from Bar Harbor to the other side of Acadia National Park to Schoodic.

Took our family of 5 on the 2:00 cruise on the Margaret Todd. Very nice schooner, beautiful and majestic to watch the crew, and volunteers hoist the sails. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the brief NPS guide telling us about the area and...More

While celebrating my wife's birthday and our 29th wedding anniversary in Bar Harbor we decided to do something we have never done. We were both a little tired from biking 15 miles in Acadia the afternoon before and thought a sail would do us good....More

Earlier in the week, we did a sunset Sea Princess Cruise that was great! It set the bar pretty high. We decided to try the Downeast Windjammer cruise because none of my group had ever been on a sailboat before. We opted for the afternoon...More

With a beautiful weather forecast, we made reservations for the sunset cruise. At the very last minute, a thick harbor fog rolled in and we could not see more than a few hundred feet for most of the trip. At the recommendation of some local...More

We are sorry you did not receive the cruise you had anticipated. However, we do have a weather policy, that we do go out in fog, rain, drizzle, and cloudiness as that is a life in Maine. Any weather that would be a danger to...More

We are sorry you did not experience the trip you had anticipated. For those who may read this review, we have a weather policy as this is a weather dependent activity where we offer an interactive authentic schooner sail. We sail in a variety of...More

My family and I visited Bar Harbor & saw advertisements for the Margaret Todd all over the place. We figured, let's try it! When we heard the price, we figured it would be a special experience for such a high price. We did the sunset...More

No, really...see if the beams creak when you load the sails. This is a real sailing ship, and I love sailing. But the captain will not let it rip. A very even-keeled operation. We always go for the 6:30, "sunset cruise". It is very relaxing,...More

We are sorry you did not receive the trip you were anticipating. However, the captain's course is a trip by trip, day by day evaluation based on wind and ocean current at that time of day. Wildlife is NOT a gareentee but we hope you...More

We are a bay cruise, departing from downtown Bar Harbor. There are other boating companies that only do lighthouse cruises.
