Back in the day before it was advertised in every "hidden spot" tourist book, Maunawili Falls used to be a lovely place to visit with family and friends. Now it is impossible to go without seeing 50 other people heading to the same little pool....More

As everyone says, it's incredibly muddy. There's no way to avoid your shoes getting pretty muddy, and it's very possible they will be covered in mud or soaked by the end (you have to cross the river a couple times and the rocks are slippery)....More

The information I read said this was a pretty easy hike. I actually wore my flip flops!! What a huge mistake. It was a great hike, but definitely would have been better if it was not our second hike of the day. Oh and if...More

Beautiful valley hike with stream crossings and climbs and descents before arriving at a 25 foot waterfall with a fun swimming pond!! Usually muddy and rutted. Very popular so go EARLY for a better chance of having the waterfall to yourself!!

If you like a challenge and aren't afraid to get dirty, this is the hike for you. I did it 2 years ago and couldn't wait to come back to Oahu to do it again. Cherry on top is being able to jump off the...More

I went hiking with my husband and 2 sons. The whole hike is a maze of tree roots and rocks. It reminded me of a Harry Potter forest but the roots did not move. I kept thinking an orthopedist would be in heaven here! There...More

So the hike itself isn't your reward. don't look at it that way. The falls and cliff jumping is your reward. Even if you don't jump from the small 10' rock, or the 35' rock, you'll enjoy watching others do it. I jumped once from...More

The falls are beautiful and worth the hike. There are few different levels on the rocks that you can jump in from. The only downside was a group of men there at the same time as us who kept climbing up high and jumping in...More

Take shoes your not scared to get real muddy! (You will break your thongs instantly if you wear them) Careful of open wounds as there are warning signs for Leptospirosis in the water. Took about 45 minutes to 1 hour each way on a very...More

It took a little over an hour each way, plus the time we spent at the falls. I think we were there about 4-5 hours total. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes that don't come off easy - is very muddy.

Like everyone has said, be cautious of open wounds when trekking in the creeks and swimming at the water falls.
