Paddle through Kawela Bay in an area that in ancient times was reserved for the Ali'i or hawaiian royalty. View beautiful coral reefs, tropical fish, and WWII wreckage just 3 feet below the Peekaboo™ window on your kayak. Stop at a honu "cleaning station" and watch as some of our green sea turtles get cleaned. For adventure seekers you have the option to surf your kayaks on small 1' waves or try out the sport your guides invented: Stand Up Kayaking!

Explore the secluded Kawela Beach and hike through the jungle tunnel to explore the WWII bunker at Protection Point. Swim in the calm waters of the bay or bird watch for endangered species on one of the many hiking trails through the forest. Relax and enjoy the local refreshments provided for you by your guide. Your keiki will help you search for the buried treasure with the map they find on the trip. Along the shore you can see lava tubes, small sea caves and blowholes. While kayaking, watch out for the two dozen resident sea turtles the Turtle Bay is named after.

Visit the "Lost" Banyan Tree where the hit TV show Lost, Pirates of the Caribbean IV and Hunger Games 2 were filmed. Optionally you can decide to stay longer at Kawela Bay and your guide can provide you with a walking map of the 2 mile trail back to Turtle Bay Resort.

I've been kayaking before, but like almost everything it's better in Hawaii. Definitely an amazing experience seeing a green sea turtle swimming within inches of your kayak. The hike to the WWII bunker (pillbox) was a nice little break from kayaking. The two tour guides, Brian & Anthony, were great. They shared stories, told us interesting facts about the sea... More

Turtle Bay Resort advertises the kayaking, but the kayak employees are employed by a third party vendor Shaka Kayaks. There are 2 daily tours, 7:45 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The resort will not book the 10 a.m. tour until the earlier tour is full. I was interested in the 10 a.m. tour. The first tour filled and I signed up... More

Aloha Alice, I'm very glad you had a great time on the tour. I will contact the manager at the hotel and find out why you never received a return phone call and make sure it doesn't happen again. In the future you can always call me direct and we would love to take you out again. More

We had a great experience with kayaking with Shaka. The guides (Darren & Anthony) were easygoing but still provided enough advice that everyone did well. Did a nice job talking about the place and some of its history. Saw many turtles and had the entire bay almost to ourselves... this is a stunning place to paddle. Seems like the perfect... More

The guys really enjoy what they do. It was a little overcast but we still saw a few turtles coming up for air in the shallows. A couple of the guys got seedy so we brought forward the break and did a guided walk around the beach. A good way to spend a couple of hours.

We took a kayak tour of Turtle Bay with Shaka Kayaks through the Turtle Bay resort in April 2017. Sean and Bryan were great guides and helped us learn the kayaks, since it was our first time. I would recommend their program highly.

Very fun time. Fun and friendly instructors. Good experience for children, teenagers and adults. Quite expensive for the time period. Loved seeing the turtles swimming in the bay. Would recommend.

Such a great time with Scott and Bryan. Great guys and very well educated about the bay, turtles and hawaii. Saw so may turtles. It's best to go out when it's sunny and calm waters.

We used Shaka Kayaks on Wednesday 16th and loved it!! We drove up to the North Shore from Waikiki and it was definitely worth the drive. The guides were really friendly, approachable and knowledgable and made the effort to introduce themselves and make sure everyone was having fun! The experience was suitable for all levels as the group split in... More

Had such an amazing time out on Kayaks with this tour! We were staying in Honolulu, at the opposite side of the island and travelled up in the morning. Both our guides, Sean and Ryan, we so friendly and were like old friends! I'm 3 months pregnant and so was very nervous about going however they put me at ease... More

If you want something fun, pretty easy, very interesting to do while on the north shore, do this! We were a group of 6 traveling together, with a range of skill, experience and interest. Each one of us loved the challenge, the scenery, the education, the fresh pineapple and of course the turtle sightings! The team at Shaka is well... More
