This is a beautiful clean wide beach that runs forever, and the size of the waves rolling in makes it an ideal area for surfers. The roar of the waves coming in is mezmerizing, but be carefu. Giant waves can develop at any moment reaching...More

Like its neighbouring beaches Sunset is a must stop for any visitor taking the time to drive to this part of Oahu.

went there today since the waves were expected to be 15+ feet ... and they were quite high. parking is difficult to find, but if you do find a spot, this can be a wonderful place to watch the waves come in

Had passed this beach on one of our drives and came back to spend the day. Tough to find parking, but there is a lot across the street. Huge surfer beach and not being a surfer, it was neat to watch them. Tons of locals...More

Hard to get a spot to park, but it's worth it if the surfs up . Yon can lay on the beach and watch the surfers, but it's not a place to swim in the winter months.

The entire North Shore of Oahu is a site for sore eyes. If you love beaches, open oceans and big waves you need to check it out.

We arrived at Sunset beach in the afternoon on a stunning day in January. There was lovely view along the coast, seeing the different breaks close to the shore and further out. Waves were around a metre so nothing huge. Pretty rough for swimming though....More

In the winter, the surf is up. Lovely beach, but not for swimming. Rather take a walk and watch the experienced surfers catch a wave.

First visited in January 2011. The waves weren't that big this time, but I enjoyed walking along the beautiful sandy beach. I took the city bus here from Waikiki beach. The next times in December 2013 and 2014 we came to watch the Pipemasters Surfing...More

Parking is at a premium so snag a spot wherever you can. Admission was free the day we were there but perhaps it depends on the event.
