A mix of indoor-outdoor exhibits, behind-the-scenes tours, and interactive presentations allow guests to conveniently discover Hawaii's marine life in a single day that would otherwise take a lifetime of exploration to see. Amply named The Aquarium of Hawaii, Maui Ocean Center is dedicated to perpetuating the Hawaiian culture and the relationship that exists between the Hawaiian people and the sea. The ocean center is much more than an aquarium. They do a lot with protecting the fish, their environment and habitat, they return fish to the ocean. On Saturdays they have marine naturalists who do presentations at most of the main areas, giving all kinds of interesting tidbits and answering all your questions. The whole ocean center is great fun,... More

We visited late in the afternoon, midweek in May, and the place was almost empty. Nevertheless, there were guides and educators about and it's clear that the place works well even if crowded. We were staying at the Grand Wailea and just took a taxi over, about a 30 minute ride. It was the only time we left the beach... More

What a treasure to learn about the ocean's denizens while visiting the Hawaiian Islands. Hosts many wonderful species to view and enjoy. The staff is friendly and informative. The Center is layed out with an educational manner and also staff routinely schedules info sessions which are helpful and great, they welcome questions. The Shark Tank exhibit is huge, the Turtles... Amazing displays of various local exotic fish and coral. Awesome walk through water tunnel, sharks were swimming above us! Locals call it snorkeling while keeping dry! There is a turtle exhibit as well with live turtles. It's against the law to have dolphins or whales in captivity so there no live ones, just displays and information. It's optional to get... More

Had a great time at the Maui Ocean Center! We did a behind the scene tour, which I would highly recommend. They told us things that we would not have known as well as getting to see coral being grown and baby turtles. We also got to feed turtles and fish! It's a great Center and I would go again... More

Was a bit smaller than expected, but well worth it! Great exhibits and we showed up at perfect time for the feeding of sea turtles and sharks! One of the staff even gave my daughter's both a fossilized shark teeth. Would definitely recommend.

Easy to reach the Maui Ocean Center via Maui local bus and we were driven there just like an express service. Beautiful displays of Hawaiian fish & sharks. Only disappointment. Not enough turtles. I only could find five.
