One of the first things to do in any trip is get some familiarity with local history. Whether you are solo or with children, Lahaina Courthouse has a well put together educational facility upstairs that is worthwhile to visit early in your trip. "By donation" it will provide some basic introduction and background on Hawaii and her people. You can... More

There aren't many free attractions in Maui, but this one has no charge to enter with the option to make a donation if you choose to. There was quite a bit of interesting history and native artifacts. There are also free bathrooms in case the public restrooms are closed for cleaning (that's how we ended up here in the first... More

On Front Street on the south end of Lahaina, we went in to find a restroom (clean but small!) only to discover the museum exhibits as well. They are worth spending an hour or so checking out Hawaiian history and artifacts, and for a "donation" of only $3 IF you want to donate! Hey, go in to use the restroom... More

Learned a few things when we wandered into the courthouse. The people there were quite knowledgeable about local artists. The Banyan tree out front was interesting to look at too.

It is an historic b uilding with a lot of art for sale inside by local artists. Take 15 minutes to tour it, and you won't be disappointed.

There is not a whole lot to see here other than some old brick walls but worth visiting and taking in the history of the courthouse and town.

It only takes a few minutes to read the plaque and get a feel for the history of Lahaina. It's in the corner near the Banyan Tree, and right next to the harbor, so it's a worthwhile 5 minute dip into history.
