Several of the recommended beaches in Maui were marred (in my opinion) by crowds and by development (condos, etc.) right behind the beach. Slaughterhouse beach is free from both of those. When we were there, there was only one other family at one end of the beach and a sunbathing green sea turtle at the other end.

Wow. Just wow. I’ve never seen a beach quite like this. Take the time to visit. You will not regret it. The sand and surf was like nothing I’ve ever experienced.

This beach has less people as the gatekeep is limited parking, but you can find spaces throughout the day. A quarter mile walk down some stairs and paved path will get you to this gem of a beach. Half the day most is in the shade due to its orientation, but you can spread out to sunny spots. There are waves which you can body surf on, watch for rocks, and the sand is great for little kids and adults alike. Cool rock features to the far left of the beach if you want to walk about.

We go there all the time for snorkeling, body surfing and hanging out at the beach. Love this beach, can be rough at times so be careful.

Worth it. Rocking waves not super deep. Wild cocks and chics roaming the beach within reach of your towels. Locals and tourists together. Really loved the wild waves and it had some shade for some sunburn relief. My toddler loved the flat parts. More ideal for adults or older kids with the rowdy waves. Very scenic for a family photo on the cliffs.

Amazing beach at the beginning of the road to Hana. It doesn’t get too packed, but you have to get there early or be lucky enough to find a parking!

Went to this beach per a locals recommendation our first day in Maui! Got there around 8:30am and got one of the last spots. There are a ton of stairs to walk down so pack lightly! The beach is just gorgeous. Tide pools, roosters on the beach, some turtles in the water, and a cool cave our kids loved! Descent snorkeling

Great "hidden" beach on the Hana Highway. It was not too busy and it had great water for snorkeling. The only reason it is four stars is there are a lot of stairs leading down to the beach and they were a little tricky in spots for older folks. Proceed with caution up and down!

Worth the ride. Get there early. Parking is tough. Bring snorkel gear, excellent fish and turtle viewing by the north side.

Hubby went body boarding. Nice sandy beach. Great for surfing or boogie boarding. Big waves. Super long flight of stairs to get to beach but WORTH IT! :)
