This small park and adjoining beach are better known for its Hawaiian history. Located on the grounds is the remains of what was once a hale, a structure or house built using natural Hawaiian materials. The beach was used by Kamehameha I as a place for some of his 800 war canoes. Be sure to take some time to read the interpretive signage around the park. When you walk to the end of the park, you will have access to a somewhat small beach noted for its gentle waves and surfing lessons.

From Front Street this grassy park area is home to an old "hale" (also means home) that can be appreciated but only from the perimeter. It is sacred ground, the sign says.

The small beach just beyond lies to the side of the harbor's edge. It is small, sandy, there is a rock wall for sitting in the shade, and is such an enjoyable spot to watch the grown-ups take the little ones out (the water only comes up to the waist of a grown-up) and then wait for a small wave.

Surfing classes are held here, and other water sports hold classes on the beach as folks get ready to do whatever they have signed up to do. Just a word o caution here: the boards do bite. Those waves can propel a board with significant energy to do some damage. Paramedics tended a young visitor who had a head injury.

It's a great little surfing spot.

Mainly for locals for surfing & outrigging, if you blink you'd miss it. Small banyan tree by the sand beach & cool sculpture similar to what you'd see on Easter Island, neat to check out right off mainstreet.

Spent the afternoon while our teenage child was taking a surf lesson. This beach is just that - surf lessons.

The water had no fish swimming and very few shady spots.

The small sandy beach area was full of not-so-family friendly people who were swearing near us (we had a young child). Other adults were drinking and smoking.

Did not feel safe to leave anything on our beach mat unattended.

If you are not surfing, don't waste your time to come to this beach.

A very small park with a traditional structure that connects Front Street with the ocean. As you walk into the park there are some plaques that explain the history of the area you are walking in. This is a stop along the way if you are doing a historical walking tour of Lahaina. Good place to sit and enjoy the ocean view. The beach did not seem very busy.

The park connects Front Street with the beach. If you like a beach that is away from lots of people, this is nice. The waves are not strong so is great for kids. There are no chairs, but if you just want to lie on a towel and enjoy the sun while you watch your kids play in the water, this is ideal.

A small park with a traditional structure, it has some informative historical signs at the entrance and provides access to the beach. The majority of the park is grassy lawn. The beach is fairly steep, but the entry into the water is easy. Very gentle waves due to offshore reef, so excellent for young kids.

Parking is available on street or in the paid lot across the street.
