We took the Polynesian adventure tours. We chose not to drive and we got the greatest tour guide, her name was Nettie. She went above and beyond . She took pictures of us at every stop, so we could both be in the picture. my suggestion is to bring a warm jacket, hat and gloves...I know it's Hawaii but it was... More

Nothing like it. Bring something warm, come early and just enjoy it. Not many people will ever see something like that..

This volcanic mountain and national park is breathtaking. It is a must do day trip if you are staying on Maui. The views from the mountain top are simply amazing. Plan for it to be the day. It's nearly an hour to get up the mountain by car, and depending on where you stay on Maui, may take you an... More

The drive us beautiful - but windy- and I mean really windy!!! My other half got car sick diving up- there are literally nothing but diving corners for hours- however, the payoff at the crater summit is incredible. My only caution- if you have someone with you that may get car sick - be prepared with something to help them.

We went up to the crater to see the sunrise and also drove the road to Hana to the other side of this national park and did the Pipiwai Trail. We had so much fun! The only thing was we had to pay to enter twice because we went to the trail on 2/28 and went to the crater 3/2.... More

Came early here at 5 am for the sunrise experience which was spectacular. Our party of 5 came dressed properly for 40-50 F temperatures with several layers, gloves and head covering and were comfortable. DONT come here in shorts and t- shirts for the sunrise experience. This is at 10,000 ft elevation, cold and windy. Later in the morning it... More

Spent most of the day here. The hike to the falls is a moderat to easy hike. Although you are aging altitude it is steady, and for the most part smooth surface. Along the way there are plenty of things to see, and when you finish the 2 miles you are rewarded with a magnificent waterfall. After coming down from... More

Definitely worth a visit although fairly cloudy when we were there late morning. Take a jumper - the wind is a bit chilly.

Haleakala National Park makes a great day trip. Go in the morning before the afternoon clouds roll in. If you haven't been to the summit, drive up and get out and walk around. You can hike Sliding Sands down into the crater but we prefer accessing the crater from the Halemau'u trailhead. This is real hiking, btw, so you need... More
