The curators love their subject and it shows in their passion and knowledge of their subject. As a totally free museum this is worth it's weight in gold!

Interesting place for a museum. Packed with information about Maui and Hawaii in general. Things galore to buy, but most are quite expensive.

What a little gem. I learned a lot about Maui’s history. It has a great deal of info about the Maui Marines, The Fighting 4th. Don’t miss this historical informative place.

Although this really isn't a museum in the truest sense of the word, it is by far worth a visit to meet Mr. Bryan Neal. He will give you a lesson on the history of Hawaii better than any tour guide, museum historian, park ranger, or history professor. He makes history come alive!! This is a very unique gift that few people possess. I know because I'm an educator and a history buff. I've gone to historical sites all over America and I've only had one other person bring history alive and that was a park ranger at Yosemite National Park and we all know who that is!!! You can see that this is a labor of love. Make a donation or buy one of his maps to sustain this place.

I came on a Saturday at noon. The museum was not open. Also, it's been moved to the second level, contrary to some directories. Looks interesting from the outside.

The museum was all right; it was quite small, and after looking around, I didn't feel as though I learned anything new. But if you don't have much familiarity with Hawaiian history, it'll give you a brief rundown.
The most disappointing part was the difficulty in finding it. The museum changed locations, and the signs posted at the old location are misleading. There is one sign that directs you to look inside the nearby Macy's store, in the women's department, but it's not there either. There is a second sign that says it's located on the second floor across from the elevator and above the American Eagle store.
My mother and I spent more time walking around looking for the museum than actually exploring it.

It does look a bit disorganized, but the static displays are yearly interesting. Learning about the culture and history of the islands is valuable. It is free so come and have a look.

The space has a great deal of material in a cramped area, but I could not discern much organization to the material. There were several topics of interest to me, but a story would begin and then suddenly stop without completing or connecting to other stories. I was glad I had not paid an admission fee.

It's moved. Go to the website and check out the new address. It's in Pa'ia. Only about 15 minutes from the old address. And right next to "Giggle Hill".

Hello! The kahiko "Aia I Lihau" says Kapi'olani visited Lihau. But I cannot find any proof. I wonder if you know about it.
