About
Aloha and welcome to Mauis Garden Of Eden Arboretum. An Arboretum is a park dedicated to trees. We also feature hundreds of lowland rainforest species of flowers, shrubs, and ground covers as well.We began this project in1991 with 30 acres of densely overgrown jungle, now after investing more than 20yrs of physical labor and 2 million dollars, we have created one of Hawaii's most visited botanical gardens. We have many plants found nowhere else or are uncommon to Hawaii, such as rare Amazon fruits and medicinal species, endangered hardwoods, spice, exotic nut trees, ferns and so much more...A botanical Disneyland with over 2 miles of maintained graveled walking trails...A truly educational facility with over 700 plants botanically labeled. Try to allow at least 45 minutes to explore. We feature great views and photo opportunities but no direct access to the waterfall or pools. If you are only interested in restrooms (we now have improved facilities) You can do so for free 2 miles down the road.A portion of your entry fee is donated to the nature conservatory. The cost to keep our gate open averages $1,000/dy so we sincerely thank you for your support,,,especially those who have contributed beyond our entry fee. Most botanical gardens have teams of volunteers and use chemicals to curb costs. Our entire staff are well paid professionals, and we are almost entirely a chemical free park. Thank you for visiting, we do take your comments to heart

    Nice Visit
My wife and I left our teen kids and drove over to the Garden of Eden from Kaanapali during our trip. We enjoyed the visit. It was chill and romantic, and not too crowded. The views of the waterfall and the valley/ocean were breathtaking. Many of the trees and plants are beautiful, and there are peacocks walking around on the property. If we had brought all 6 of us then the price would have been high for what it is, but for two of us it was fine. The garden is not huge - we took our time and were not there for much more than an hour. It's not that hard of a drive, just the last few miles are true "Road to Hana" but even then it wasn't that difficult (we've driven the entire road before).

Beautiful stop, best on road to Hana.
This was without doubt the best stop on the road to Hana and would be worth the drive to it alone. Don’t be put off by the price, it’s worth it. Amazing collection of trees and plants, some stunning views and a sense of tranquility. Astonishing that it was only developed in the 90s, has the air of a far longer established place.

    A relatively expensive can-do activity
Probably a little unusual for European visitors: the botanical garden can also be viewed by car via drive-in/drive-through. However, the best way is still on foot and many of the paths are only accessible on foot. All in all, the park is beautifully laid out and features a wide variety of plants and even a viewpoint of the waterfall that you wouldn't otherwise get. It takes about 30-45 minutes to explore the entire park on foot and get back to the car. Despite everything, 20 US dollars per person is quite a lot, most of the plants can be seen just like that outside the park. But it's certainly worth a detour for plant enthusiasts and the park is on the Road to Hana anyway. So if you have time, the park is definitely worth a visit, even in rainy weather!

We visited on a nice sunny afternoon on our way back from Hana. I was hesitant about the $15 entry fee per person but as the time went by during our visit I actually might have paid more. To be clear, this is nature, lots of interesting and beautiful plants and awesome views so some may not find it exciting. BUT, one of the main reasons you visit Maui is to enjoy the natural beauty. If you are driving the road to Hana and enjoying all of the natural beauty this is a great stop to add and worth exploring the interesting trees/plants/views/animals in Eden!

I wish I could give this place a zero review. Yesterday we stopped by there on the way to Pipiwa Trail. In these hard economic times they charged 20 dollars per person for absolutely zero , zilch . The map they gave us was no help at all. Visitors beware, save your money and do not waste your time at this place. There are so many more worthwhile places to visit that are much better than this so called Garden of Eden.

Definitely a waste of time on our trip of Road to Hana. $20 per PERSON entry is too much in our opinion for what there was there. The maps and signage that’s around the garden is not necessarily correct and forces you to waste a lot of time walking around. We saw other people confused as well. Skip the trip and long wait to get in. Also under no circumstance buy food from their food shack before you leave. We ordered a smoothie and saw them put frozen fruit in our drink. The fruit looked like it had similar packaging from Costco. We’re in Hawaii and can’t even get fresh fruit? Food and drinks were expensive for what they were. Tourist trap and ripoff. Only gave 2 stars because the views were amazing, however still not worth the price.

We were absolutely astounded and dazzled by this gorgeous place! The entry fee of $15 was more than worth it! 2 1/2 miles of fascinating trails.. breathtaking sometimes in its beauty!
Woods.. banyan trees, mango groves, huge bamboo trees of all colors, rainbow eucalyptus trees, waterfalls, unique colorful flowers and peacocks too!
Don’t miss it on your right on the road to Hana after Mile marker 10 or so !

We had high hopes for this experience; sadly, we were let down. Entrance is $20 a person, and for thay ou get to see the same flora and views you could see from the road to Hana for free.

There were a few lovely lookout points, but alas, you can see that type of view from the road...

I was surprised by the lack of blooming flowers; this could be because we went in March. Go if you like small woody hikes and views.

A really beautiful garden full of exotic plants and fruits, neatly labelled. This was one of the highlights of our Road to Hana day trip. As well as the plants there are some fantastic views of the coast and some waterfalls. We thought it was worth the price of admission as we spent nearly an hour there (could do it in 30 mins if short on time) but it is unfortunately overpriced as it is a bit of a tourist trap. Go early in the day to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

We only stopped for the drive through experience which was pretty short. Thought this was a little pricey for the time we spent here. However, you could easily spend half a day hiking all the trails and certainly get your money's worth! We did get out at the rock and waterfall and walked around for a bit. Our kids loved seeing the peacocks! This place is very well maintained and has a lot of beautiful plants and scenery.

We drove by last year & didn't stop but thought we’d try on our road-trip back through this year. It was overcast that day & not too hot, by the time we stopped in early afternoon. Despite all the recent torrential rains & flooding Maui had, there was some muddy areas and 1 of the paths was closed.

Otherwise, everywhere was walkable and pretty to see the different flowers, plants and trees. We saw the ducks and the peacocks, didn’t feed either ones. It was a nice walk on a pleasant day with my husband.

We were there just under 2 hours & scenery such as ocean & waterfalls below was pretty. We didn’t purchase any gifts/food. The bathrooms were basic and there were a couple areas with picnic tables.

The attractions here are viewable on the road to Hana but you are paying $20 a person to see those same views. Our family of 5 spent more time in the bathrooms than walking through this place. Save your money and enjoy the free walking paths before and after this tourist trap. Would never recommend to friends or family.

Warning!!! This is a complete ripoff @ $20 per person with nothing special to see and do. There are much better locations with better scenery down the road to Hana including free admission arboretum. Don’t waste your precious time and money. Absolutely a must skip on your road to Hana!!!!
