We went here to take friends who had never been here before. Sadly we had the Kauai fog. The views were still good and well worth the visit. It is a good half day trip, so allow the time to see it and do some hiking. Bring hiking shoes and a warm jacket as it can get chilly sometimes. Better... More

We were staying in Poipu so it was maybe an hour and a half drive to the end of the Canyon road.We were fortunate to have beautiful weather. It's an easy drive with lots of places where you can pull over to admire the views....and they are all beautiful.

Absolutely amazing views of the canyon and great hikes on the way to the lookout at the end. Long drive that is well worth the time. Make sure to have enough gas and water before going on the long drive.

We ventures out to the canyon around mid-morning and while we missed the sunrise, the full sunshine that day brought out all of the splendor of the canyon and forests and valleys. Clear view of the falls and we also had great view of napali side as we got to the top lookout points - the first time in half... More

We were told this is a must see. I was skeptical. However this was gorgeous. It is supposedly the Grand Canyon of the Pacific (I've not been to the Grand Canyon). This was beautiful and worth the drive. Kauai is a very "lay back" island so to take a 1/2 day or so to take this drive and see the... More

The views are simply gorgeous. I mean, every five minutes we had to pull over to "ooooh!" and "ahhhh!". There are several parking lots for getting out of your car and walking to the lookouts - you will be so amazed. So beautiful! We went all the way to the end of the road to do the swamp hike. Of... This is an absolute must see when you are visiting Kauai. There are numerous hikes and walks that interweave through the Waimea canyon, with unbelievable views. The road is a little rough, but it is so worth it. Great little lodge too halfway up the road where we stopped and got some great advice.

The views from the lookout points are beautiful. It took us about 1 hour to drive from Lihue. Good for a stop but not sure I would make it a big part of the plans for a day. There are several quaint towns on the way that are fun to explore.

This is a must see on your trip to Kauai. The views are spectacular and it really does appear to be a miniature version of the Grand Canyon. It is not unusual to see several water falls and birds soaring well below your vantage point at the lookouts. You can frequently seen mountain goats and always observe the Nene (Hawaiian... More

Waimea Canyon was my favorite part of Kauai! I've never seen the Grand Canyon but I imagine Waimea Canyon is a miniature version of that. It was absolutely breathtaking! My boyfriend and I drove to the top and also hiked to a waterfall. It is something I will always remember. A must do for Kauai!
