We visited this beautiful place the day before the "storm of the century". It was cloudy, even drizzly, but so enjoyable, fun, and amazing. We drove down from Princeville and it took us almost 2 hours because my husband drove too far on the highway....More

We were in Kauai during a flooding week, but the canyon was still beautiful. The clouds and fog added to the beauty.

This is a very special place to see. It can be a little crowded, but it is a worthwhile drive. Breathtaking in every way. More than worth the time. And a number of pretty things to see along the way.

We were on a day tour to the canyon. Great views with several different levels to look out from. A local food and drinks stall had setup to meet all of the tour buses. The food was all home made.

The Waimea Canyon is spectacular and is a must see. Considered the Grand Canyon of Hawaii it is absolutely beautiful. Also a fun to the top.

As soon as you go up a few steps (at the main lookout), you're in awe. Amazing views. The place is so still it's like looking at a painting. Beautiful colors. There's no words to really describe it. A must see. Lots of parking, washroom...More

It's a nice drive up to the canyon. The canyon is more beautiful than we could have imagined. So glad we included this stop as part of our vacation to beautiful Kauai.

Drive was very steep but arriving at the lookout it was clearly worth it. The lookout has restrooms and someone selling snacks. Along the way we stopped at Hanapepe which was a cute little artsy town.

The drive up to the overlooks is twisty and can be slow following a poorly powered rental yet well worth the patience. Several overlooks, four with parking and facilities, and numerous others designed by tourists driving off the road, grant glimpses into this fascinating canyon...More

I don’t think flooding affected that area. We decided that calling the tour companies to see if they are running buses up to the canyon is the best way to find out.

No, not in November when we used it. Just had a regular car. No problem.

Most definitely go in the morning. The Kalalua Lookout is foggied/cloudied over in the afternoon.
