Incredibly beautiful and stunning. It’s a long windy road with stop offs along the way. Plan some time as you will really want to view this from multiple places

Waimea Canyon is one of the must sees of Hawaii! We have done the drive on 3 different trips and each time it is unique. I agree with other 5 star reviewers about hitting all the look outs and taking your time to enjoy it....More

Saw it from the air on a helicopter ride, but views by car / on foot were different and a must-do. Try and go up highway 550 and take 552 down, for different views. Do the Waimea Canyon Drive, and there are a couple of...More

Trip to Waimea was enjoyable with some great views. Highlight of our trip was a trail we did which gave spectacular views of Napali coast. We were coming back to car at the last but one lookout. Got to know about the trail by chance...More

Located on the southwest side of the island, this natural landmark is amazing. There are a number of lookouts and well as places along the road and you climb and wind you way up, that you can safely pull to the side. Make certain that...More

Beautiful views of the canyon- Depending on the time of the year you visit the hiking trails may be muddy and not safe for the hike but the views are spectacular.

We did the drive to the canyon today. Great drive, great views. Bring your camera, and a light sweater or jacket as the temperatures are much cooler than down below. There are nice places for a picnic if you'd like. At the very end of...More

What a beautiful drive - be sure to leave early in the morning so you reach the summit by 10 am at the latest so you have a shot at seeing it before the fog rolls in. You can then wind your way down the...More

I would allot several hours and do it leisurely, but it all depends upon what you consider interesting. Some folk do it in one hour and some take all day. And the weather will alter what you may see.

It is worth seeing a different perspective of the canyon. Slow and steady up the winding narrow road. Plenty of places to stop and take in the view. If you want to make it to the top by sunset I wouldn't stop to long. The... More
