I wish more shelters would do something like this! It is such an amazing idea, and apparently a lot of the dogs even get adopted by the tourists who take them on field trips. The employees/volunteers at the shelter are very nice and helpful. When...More

Kauai Humane Society is the best animal adoption shelter I have had the pleasure of working with. They made it easy and almost effortless especially since we had to bring the dog back to mainland. I think their field trip program is super innovative and...More

We participated in the dog field trips program and what an amazing idea! We chose a six year old hound mix named Switcher and had a wonderful day. Switcher was the easiest dog I've met. He rode well in the car, walked like a dream...More

Great program. We took shelter dog ‘Isabella’ to the beach to run & play. She knew when to be energetic & when to chill. Really liked the opportunity to get our dog fix and give her a day out and lots of attention.

On your next visit to the island, stop by the Kauai Humane Society to "check out" a dog to take on a field trip for the day. Be sure to visit their website first so you know the correct pick up times. You can take...More

Everyone should do this! An amazing experience to take a dog out of the shelter environment for a day and give them some much needed exercise. Fun for you and the amazing dogs they have there.

Depending on the airline, they may let you take the dog for free. I would inquire on the specifics by reaching out directly to the Humane Society. Review the website for field trip times and then just show up and rent one... More
