I love lighthouses and this one is no exception. Unfortunately, you can't go in but can walk around the outside. It has a very interesting history. And a plus - we saw whales just off the shore. You do need tickets to walk down to the lighthouse. They are not expensive and we purchased ours online the morning of.

Make your way through the nice roads of the Marriott resort and follow the wooden signs- when you get to dirt roads you are getting close- worth the drive

Unfortunately it was Sunday and it was closed. We did however get spectacular views from the view point.

We used Ninini Point Street that wraps around the airport runways to access the light house and was able to drive right up to it. Beautiful spot! The planes land right over your head while the waves crash up below.
If you are a geocacher, there's one here.

This lighthouse was "around the corner" from where we were staying. We treked out there to see it, the views were amazing.

Beautiful views, glad we stopped, even if just for a few minutes, as the gate was locked and said we needed to make reservations.

Such an amazing view point. Was a great little stop. Some walking in required but worth it for the views and pictures we took.

This is always a must stop when in Kauai. However, this time the gate at the top was locked and sign says you need a free reservation and only available on specific days. Sign says to get reservations in the near area..maybe a shell station..

This lighthouse is located at such a beautiful, remote location! We drove through a golf course, around the perimeter of the airport, and did a little bit of what felt like off road driving to get to the lighthouse. It was well worth the trip. The lighthouse itself is a sight to see and the ocean views surtounding it are stunning. While there, we watched a barge being towed out to sea, which only added to the experience. This quick stop is a must do. If you can find it!

Very beautiful and peaceful place. Didn't know it was a bird sanctuary. Interesting facts about the birds and the history of the lighthouse.
