Beautiful!
Aug 2021
Very beautiful and peaceful place. Didn't know it was a bird sanctuary. Interesting facts about the birds and the history of the lighthouse.

pretty neat place

sort of hard to get to it, but gps directions worked well. road kinda bumpy but rental car did fine. we drove right up to it. it's not "manned" so there is no tour, just an info sign. wouldn't want to try it at night. the neatest thing was watching the jets flying right over it preparing for landing.

A windblown point with a nice view near the airport fence.

Worth a stop to kill some time before returning your LIH rental car. Some deep potholes and ruts on the access road but fine if you go slow. The lighthouse is not open to the public and is marred by graffiti.

There are amazing views from this lighthouse
Mar 2020 • Couples
This lighthouse had the definite best views of the ocean of the trip, imho. Getting there though is a little weird, going along the airport perimeter and then on a dirt road. There is a lot of trash in the area and maybe some homeless nests in the vicinity. There is also a lot of graffiti on the abandoned lighthouse, but the views were totally worth it, plus all those other things made it feel like getting there was an adventure. Two other couples showed up while we were there so it isn’t completely unvisited, but I wouldn’t go here after dark.
Around the lighthouse are crashing waves, beautiful views of the ocean and green plants growing along the cliffs to the sides of the lighthouse. It was absolutely gorgeous and I’m so glad we went to check it out.

Lots of garbage but nice views
Jan 2020
We used GPS to get us here and drove down the bumpy road as far as we could in our little car (there were lots of ruts and rocks and didn't want to risk ripping the oil pan off). I was sad to see the area littered with garbage, clothing, and an abandoned car. This is a larger lighthouse than the one on Kukii Point. It's also near the airport and was fun to watch planes flying low overhead. We also saw whales in the distance.

Abandoned Lighthouse
Jan 2020
We took a walk out here from our hotel. It was an adventure, we really weren't sure of the best way to get there so we ended up on a narrow path through head-high grass and shrubs. Once we found the road it was easier going. The site is not maintained, so expect some litter. The views are nice. If you stick around for awhile you will get a close view of incoming air traffic.

19th Annual Kauai Vacation

Wonderful and Historic Lighthouse with a terrific view. We have a tradition saying aloha to the visiting cruise ships as the arrive and depart the Garden Island!

With the advent of the homeless problems on Kauai the experience is diminished and I advise that one is careful when visiting. This was a great wedding venue at one time. Avoid it for that purpose until things change.

Access through the Marriott Beach Club and Timbers allows you to drive on paved roadways until you hit the last mile or so on the dirt road on the east side of the Airport.

Nice view of the lighthouse.

Going to the lighthouse is great. This trip we did not go into the park area but the view from right outside is worth the trip to see it.

Fabulous
Jan 2020 • Couples
What an absolutely beautiful scenic area with a bird sanctuary and a place where you can spot whales and dolphins. Suggest taking some binoculars as this would help your viewing pleasure. Camera is a must for some great snaps.
