At this beach, the shore and cove are still like it must have been when the Polynesians arrived. It was a fun morning in the sand and surf amid picturesque hills and the warm ocean. It is worth the time to spend half a day or more here.

Not very pretty beach compared to other beaches in Kauai. Not much of an open ocean view. That is good if you have small kids are concerned about rough water. There are lots of restaurants and you can rent chairs. There are some trees and grass. The hotel people will not let you sit in their chairs even if you... More

This is one of many clean public beaches in the town of Kapaa, HI. All of the beaches have public toliets. None of the beaches are crowded. This beach has ample long term parking and the toliet has running water. The suffing, swimming and boogie boarding is teriffic although the waves are bit too rough for snorkling.

This is a great little beach! Beautiful swimming place, also good for paddleboarding & kayaking. There is a wide sand beach, as well as grass & trees set further back, if you want some shade. Some great bars & restaurants on the beachfront--very convenient!

This is a wonderful beach in front of the Marriott. The water is warm and shallow. Good for beginner surfers, opaddle boarders and kayacers. Duke's is a great restaurant just off the beach.

Nice, easy, sandy bottom beach. More of a bay. Locals surf longboards to the left. In front of the Marriott. Great place to take children as the waves are minimal. Surf board rental and SUP

Located close to the airport, this is our first and last stop every time we visit Kauai. This place seriously gets you in the mood, immediately. From the beautiful mountains, the gorgeous bay full of sailboats, bronzed surfers and paddle-boarders, swaying palm trees in the trade winds, to the gorgeous beach just in front of The Marriott and all the... This was a great spot to frolic in the ocean. There were waves, but it appeared that the area was more of a protected bay than open ocean access.

The closest beach to Lihue airport and also shared with the Marriot, Kalapaki Beach offers a casual, comfortable setting good for swimming, surfing, a morning/afternoon run, or working on that tan. Next to Nawiliwili Harbor, Kalapaki Beach is busiest when cruise ships arrive, usually Thursdays. It is also home to Niumalu Canoe Club, which has its two-story clubhouse facing the... More

We checked out a dog for a field trip from the Kauai Humane Society for some fun, helping to socialize the doggie, and have a nice day at the beach which Kalapaki is a good place to be. It's close to the cruise ship dock so things can get a bit nuts with the flood of folks to shops, restaurants,... More
