My husband and I had an exciting time visiting the Na Pali Coast with Colin as our captain. He was a very experienced captain and very informative. We saw humpback whales and a huge pod of dolphins! We normally don’t take boat tours because we suffer from seasickness but we took the advise from Na Pali Experience site and took sea sick medication the night before and the morning of our boat ride and we were not sick at all! The tour was awesome!

Mahalo for joining us on the Na Pali! We are glad to hear the medication worked! Being sea sick is no fun. Awesome to hear you were able to see whales and dolphins too! Sounds like an epic day on the water.

We did the six person small catamaran in early November. We had the pleasure of having Jackie as our captain. Not only was she very skilled, but she was a joy to spend the morning with. We had a beautiful day and were lucky enough to see dozens of dolphins, as well as explore several cool caves along the coast. The waters were pretty rough on our way back, but overall a great trip!!!

My husband and I got to spend a morning trip with the Nāpali Pirates (Jake and Nolan). They are not only hilarious but also good people. Gave us as much history as they could and would’ve taken our boat into the caves a little further, but the waves were too big. We had a blast, hope to return and see them again in the future.

I would recommend this trip to anyone up for a great and beautiful experience! The views were amazing and our Captain JD was awesome! He made sure we felt comfortable even when the waves felt huge, and he was ready to answer all of our questions about life in Hawai’i along with sending us off with a list of Kaui’i recommendations. Do not hesitate booking a tour with Na Pali Experience!

Fantastic trip. Our favorite by far on Kauai. The weather was perfect. We chanced upon a dolphin separated from its pod and later a larger pod. Captain Dan was great. His jokes were great. The smaller boat was a lot of fun, allowing us to go in the sea caves. Sitting in the front of the boat was the best. Be sure to have sunglasses to keep the spray out of your face.

The Na Pali Catamaran tour was fantastic. Captain Jackie was an excellent guide and captain and all around pleasure to share space with. The coast is jaw droppingly gorgeous, and Jackie knew all of the best spots to take us for a truly exceptional experience. Definitely recommend.

The weather conditions on the day we went were terrible. The tour never should have gone. The wind was blowing hard and the waves were twice the size of the boat. Yes we saw the Na Pali coast but didn’t get many pics because we had to hold on to the boat for dear life. I overheard other tour companies offering people the chance to not go. When I ask our captain about the weather conditions, he told me we do this all the time and this is normal conditions. We were never given the option to cancel, and the contract says no refund. I can only imagine if something mechanical happened, engine quit or steering fails while we were in those 20’ waves and howling wind. You could blame Mother Nature for the conditions, but this company’s go no go criteria should be questioned. Quite the Na Pali experience!

Capt Manu provided interesting historical commentary while expertly piloting us to the northern most point of the Napali coast. We investigated sea caves, observed a pod of sleeping spinner dolphins and were later entertained by bottle nose dolphins dancing around us.1st Mate Brian comforted a seasick child along with providing us refreshments, travel advice, info on local floral & fauna. We weren’t able to snorkle due to poor water visibility but swimming was delightful!

We had a 6 person catamaran early November. The views were spectacular, including dolphins and fish as we snorkelled. Starting winter months can be rough and we did have some rougher waters. Our Captain was an expert and even backed us into the sea caves including the Queens bath fully. Bonus of a small boat and good captain picking his spots! Unfortunately no whales this trip! Phenomenal experience and would highly recommend. Likely amazing on these boats in the summer months when more calm also. Mahalo and hope to experience this again!

Laid back boat trip with amazing views of Nepali Coast. Captain Mono was great fun as was Brian the first mate. My grandson was feeling a little seasick so Brian took charge of him by sitting and even holding him in the back of the boat. Brian as well as Mono grew up on the island and were a great source of information pertaining to island events as well as places to eat. The boat was comfortable , I especially liked the fact that the boat had a cover to avert the intense sunlight. All five of us had a really fun experience. Highly recommend!

Hi. Do you go in any caves during the month of February? I’m interested in going in the open ceiling cave pukalani. I know many won’t go during the winter. Thank you

Very unlikely. The seas are too rough in the winter months. I would not recommend a boat tour of the Na Pa Li at all in the winter. Instead opt for a helicopter tour for wonderful views. If your are a little adventurous and enjoy photography, go for a "doors off" flight to be able to get the best photos.
Is this a good tour if we don’t plan on snorkeling?

This is a super cool small boat experience that takes you into the sea caves and gets you up close to the Na Pali coastline. Snorkeling part is fun but even if you don't snorkel the experience is awesome.

Should take you 35-40 min. Boat leaves from Kikiaola Harbor. Very easy to find. They will send you all the directions and info you need.

How big are the boats (how many feet)? Are there cushioned seats? I can't find any pics of the inside of the boats...if anyone has any that would be appreciated! Thanks!

All sitting areas have a 3" pad to sit on and what looks like a 2", but more dense, pad to lean back on. My pics only showed the sitting area in front of the boat, but if you search the thumbnail pics at the bottom of the current picture window (on Tripadvisor), you can pick out better pics that others have provided that show the inside really well.

Our 8 year-old had a great time and was even a braver snorkeler than our older kids (12, 14, 17). All tolerated the ride without problem despite pretty rough seas for about half of the trip. All did get one dose of preventive meds before.

Is snorkeling experience required to be able to participate in the snorkeling part of the tour? I have never snorkeled in my life but am eager to try. Thanks.

That is a long distance around 30-40 minutes. Taxi or Uber but it will probably be expensive.

Aloha, First off, congratulations! Now, heres your answer. 1st trimester can be ok if approved by your doctor and on our Morning Magic trip when the seas are generally calmer. Please also call 2 days before your departure to check on forecasted conditions to make sure it is average to above average conditions. Hope to see you soon!
Mahalo nui loa,
