Well worth a visit. A beautiful garden on a hillside, with a great self-guided tour. It's a little sad to realize how much of the flora on Kauai is not native, but it does give you new insight into the island.

I've been a Tripadvisor member since 2010 and untill now I've only written a review when I've had an exceptionally good experience. Sadly, one of the staff at this botanical garden was so horrible to us I have to write my 1st bad review. We were staying in Kapaa but wanted to drive to the other side of the island... More

This place was a wonderful surprise. Well designed, excellently curated, immaculately maintained. A great destination if you're looking for an excuse to drive the North Shore area of Kauai. Though it's good enough to be a destination in and of itself. It's pretty "educational" though, do probably not all that interesting for kids, though.

My friend and I visited this garden. We just did a self guided tour with the brochure. I learned a lot. The views were spectacular. The lady that checked us in was especially friendly.

This is a great experience. If you have any interest in the native jungles of Hawai and archeological exploration this is a cool place.

They do good work there in perpetuating existing and almost extinct plants. It was an interesting walkabout.

So much more than I expected. The grounds are impeccable, the information abounds and their love for this beautiful island is evident everywhere. If you go, wear sneakers and pants. I wore a dress and flip flops . . . That was a mistake. The trails are lush and it just transports you to another time. Highly recommend it.

We are traveling on a budget and decided to go to this place as it was the cheapest of the National Botanical Garden sites on Kaua'i, and also because of its focus on native and endemic plants. The self-guided tour was plenty informative and comes with a booklet so you can look stuff up later if you forget. We learned... More

We come to Kauai often and never tire of revisiting Limahuli, where the trails take you past dramatic rushing streams, gorgeous flowers and trees, spectacular elevated views of the ocean, and a reconstructed sustainable way of life lived on Kauai long before sustainability became fashionable on the U. S. mainland.
