This was a bucket list item for us. We just had to go to the Balck Sand Beach and see it for ourselves.

We visited the 49 Black Sand Beach three times while staying nearby. The beach is very small with limited parking, but it had nice snorkeling and was quiet with few people.

Great black (more like salt and pepper) sand beach within an exclusive gated community of multimillion dollar mansions. A limited number of beach passes are available to the publix each day. Early weekdays are the best time to go.

Nice, black sand beach. Worth the long drive from Kona area. If you're traveling around the island, a stop here is a must!

This is a beautiful, almost-hidden gem. It wasn't crowded when we went, so we were able to stay and enjoy the scenery without distractions.

Get here before it gets really hot. Mornings are the best for clarity for snorkeling. When facing the beach, the left side by the rocks has much to see. Enjoy!

It was neat to see the black sand beach. However, the black sand gets unbelievably hot! It burned our feet even with flip flops on and it was way too hot to lay on the sand to relaz or sun bathe. It is good to...More
