Great trip but pretty rough seas. Not sure they need to go as fast as they were going. If you get seasick take a pill first. When I booked they said they would be at the lava sight 30 minutes but it was more like 20 minutes with a 30 minute ride there and back. No need to pay extra... More

If this isn't on your "bucket list" it should be. A very moving experience. Despite heavy seas the Lavaone's masterful skipper, superior design and four 250 HP outboard Hondas never skipped a beat. A helluva show it was too! We took the sunrise tour with the super moon setting behind Kilauea. Be sure to keep your electronic devices (including car... More

Watching lava pour into the sea is watching the earth being created. The Hawaiian belief that lava is the sacred body of the goddess Pele now makes perfect sense. It was also incredibly thrilling and a bit frightening to be so close to steaming lava. You will bet soaking wet and banged around on the ride to and from the... More

We booked an evening viewing, but it was cancelled due to wind. We went on the 2 pm cruise and it was wonderful. So much fun! It was like being on a roller coaster for 2 hours, with magnificent plumes is smoke and flowing lava. a brilliant tour. Thanks so much.

Captain Gene and his team are very professional and customer oriented. They run his little business with flexibitity and honesty. I fully recommend them. They are the only ones that take you to the lava flow entry point in Saturdays. For us, it was the only option and I truly appreciate them willing to take us. It was great because... More

What impressed me was - I was due to go on a dawn Lava boat triip - specifically to do some photography of the lava entering the sea. These were professional enough to email me to tell me that the lava had stopped and what did I want to do. Other boats companies were still taking people out under the... More

We had a group of 6 and did the 5 am ride. We got in the boat in the lot and drove us to the water we went with a full moon. Great ride out to the lava flows. Amazing. Where else can you see this. Then the sun rose and it to was beautiful. Gene and his crewmen are... More

Aug 4, 2013 - it was an early morning, but we were fortunate because the skies were clear and the water was pretty calm. Capt. Gene got us on the boat quickly, and we were off. He wasn't very talkative, but his first mate spoke with us on the ride out about what we were seeing on the coast. He... More

This was a truly incredible experience, and Captain Gene and his one-man crew made it even better. The price was reasonable compared to competitors and a better value than we could have imagined based on what we actually experienced. We set out before dawn, just me, my wife, and our two kids (12 and 8). The boat could take two... More

Capt Gene & 1st mate were great! Boat was built for just what it does. Seats were comfortable & it carries a small group, everyone gets to see. Of the 3 or 4 boats out at sunset we got to the lava 1st, stayed the longest & got closest to the lava flows. We were very pleased & felt it... More
