All I have to say is:"taking the shuttles to the green sands beach is the best way..The locals know what their doing and they also have the experience to get you there and back..So what if it cost's $15 each person,it's well worth the adventure..I loved it and my shuttle driver was the best..She knew exactly where to go,what to... The Green Sand Beach is, in fact, green. Much of the sand has a brilliant gold color when seen up close. Locals have carved a cobweb of dirt tracks through the former farmland net the beach. You can hike in, but the round trip is about six miles along dusty tracks. Or, you can pay about $15 per head to... More

First off, the hike is easy enough - all flat - and through a terrain that's very different to the rest of the island. They have locals giving ATV and truck rides out to the beach for 10$, but we decided to walk it out and then ride back (I would recommend this). There's not a path per-say, just lots... More

It's a 3 mile hike to the beach. No signage, you just pick your road and walk. Locals will drive you in and back in their beat up old trucks and jeeps. We paid for a ride back as we were a bit behind on our day. But allocate enough time to truly enjoy this location. The ocean views along... More

My wife and I arrived at the point where it was said locals jump the cliffs into the water... Well we had just arrived when they pulled a dead body from water. We were told that this lady jumped in but was unable to climb the ladder back up. She drowned attempting to climb out but could not. I went... More

The beach itself is cool and unique. Form most of these photos its hard to tell its green. Its more of an olive green color when you see it in real life. When you look at the individual grains of sand some of them are indeed green while others are browns and blacks and the results give you the color... More

Ok- so I thought it was crazy to drive 2+ hours from our beautiful resort to go to some "green sand" beach. But, let me tell you- it was an experience of a lifetime! The green sand beach is on native land and you can get there by hiking about 2ish miles one way, 4 miles round trip, by riding... More

Most people think Key West is most southern point, but it's only true for the continental US! Beautiful spot South Point. Wide ranging ocean and cliff views all around. It's pretty desolate at the point so it's just you and the natural beauty of the place, bar the occasional locals jumping from the cliff. I don't know about jumping, it's... More

This is an unique beach of green soft sand in an old caldera that is 2 miles from the end of surfaced road at south point. There are normally local teeenagers who will drive you in old SUVs to the beach for a small price. This beach is very popular with locals ans is safe for children.

Hike do not ride yo the beach. Yes it takes a while and it will be windy. But drivers are causing erosion and damage to the historical site and natural environment. If there was one 'official' path road in and out the problem could be controlled. Don't make it worse, do the hike you could use the exercise and it... More
