We were pretty disgusted. You read in the tourist magazines that this is one of two green beaches in the world and it is a must see. It's not. We felt like we walked in to a 3rd world war torn country. There are locals...More

The walk to and from is rough over an uneven rocky trail. Many times you can pay for a four wheel ride out to the beach. The view is great, and the sand is a wonderful green color. During my last visit there were nudist...More

We hiked out after parking at a seemingly makeshift parking lot. It is a long hike with zero shade, so bring sunscreen and lots of water. We had two 100 OZ Camelbacks between 4 people as well as a 16 oz bottle each and all...More

It was special to see a green sandy beach. It is worth the trip to go see the beach. This is a relatively long walk. It is relatively flat terrain. If you go in the middle of the day, do not forget to bring water...More

Yes, it's a hike. We did not opt to take a ride on the available "shuttles", so I can't really comment on the gentlemen hanging about the parking lot. There are very limited toilet facilities at the lot, bring your own tissues. However, if you...More

The beach was Amazing. There are only two green sand beaches in the world. If you’re a hiker and prepared you can easily make the 2.5 mile hike to the beach. If not let the local's give you a ride to the beach. It's not...More

The beach is like a giant wave pool on crack. Bring a boogie board and you'll have a blast. Or just plan on body surfing for a couple hours. Drive: Pretty rough terrain for the 2 miles to get there so make sure to get...More

What an adventure to get to the Green Sand Beach. We were shuttled there by a private driver with a 4 x 4 truck because of the very rough terrains 2.5 mile ride. But once you get to the beach, well it was definitely worth...More

We drove the 12 miles from Hwy 11 arriving at South Point an hour before sunset - better to go earlier in the day. The road at the final couple of miles is single lane with low gravel shoulders. Plan to share the road with...More

They will approach you on the parking area. I think the hike itself added to the experience though and I wouldn't pay for the ride personally. I would suggest being sunscreens up as it's very windy and you don't realize... More

I wouldn't cliff jump unless you have snorkeld the water to check for depth or rock spires. And don't swim these waters without lifeguard present....several people drown per day in Hawaii....and good swimmers too... More

Yes, locals are there waiting when you drive in. We paid $15 per person. Ask them to be in the cab, otherwise you're in the box of the truck. It's very windy out there, wear close toed shoes too. Enjoy!!
