This is supposedly one of the best snorkeling beaches on the Big Island. If best means crowded, then yes. However, my daughter said there were only a few fish, and the waters were shallow. You had to be really careful to navigate over the rocks....More

I liked it but found it too shallow to snorkel and I was disappointed by the amount of fish I saw. Maybe it was just a bad day, but I think there are so many better places on the Big Island to go

There are a lot of fish here, no doubt. But there are a lot of people. Because of the relatively shallow entry, all of those people have damaged the corals closest to shore. There are some healthier ones further out. You have a good chance...More

This is truly an outstanding snorkeling beach with a wide variety of good-sized fish just a few kicks from shore. Smaller versions of some of the fish are also visible wading near shore during high tide. It also reviews as Kahalu'u Beach Park and Kahaluu...More

We stopped at this beach to watch the sunset, and we weren't disappointed. Like most of the beaches on the Big Island, it was awesome!

Sadly, the reef at Kahaluu Beach is dying after long years of over-use by humans. Coral bleach well visible.

I wanted a beginner beach for my teenage and up kids for their introduction to snorkeling, and this was the place I chose. It worked great. We walked to the surf line, put on our flippers, and headed out into the bay. The great thing...More

There is snorkel equipment for rent. I don’t know where Kona Resort is so can’t answer that question. Check with your resort about distance.
