This hike is amazing! It's a little challenging although our 11 year old could do it, but worth it. Richard was awesome - he was knowledgeable and made it fun and interesting for our kids (ages 14 & 11). If you are looking for a great day trip this is the one!

We hiked this trail a year ago five months before my arthroscopic surgery. Even though my knee was not normal at the time, I hiked all the way down to bottom of the hill to the beach. The hike was hard and kind of boring because there was not much scenery. This time I was eight months post-op. After 15... More

This included a visit to a coffee plantation before a short walk in the Cloud Forest near Kona. Sean our guide was awesome. He chatted about things of interest such as the flora in the forest. He also whistled to the birds and they answered them. It was a fun day & for us a lifetime experience.

We visited Waipio Valley today with Mike as our guide. Only me and my husband were on the trip; I was pleased they proceeded with the trip even though there were just the two of us. We were picked up on time, visited Honokaa for a short visit, and then headed down the steep path (in a vehicle) to the... More

We booked a hike with Hugh after reading excellent reviews of him and his company online and in published travel guides. He was efficient, professional, and friendly in all of my communication with him before our trip and was a real pleasure to have as our guide. He took us on a private trail through gorgeous and exciting trails with... More

I just returned from our first visit to the Big Island with my fiancee, and his family. We only had 5-7 days to see and do all that we had intended to and 3 days where we could all do activities together. We were looking for something active, connected to nature, educational, personalised and professionally run and we found all... More

Hugh does such a great job with these hikes. We learned so much about the island, saw amazing views you can't get elsewhere, and had a great time exploring. The details say moderately strenuous but that is only because of slick rocks and uneven footing. Hugh brings everything you may need. Just bring yourself and a mindset for a bit... More

This was my second tour with Hawaiian Walkways and both times were amazing. They have access to trails that no one else has which makes the hike a truly unique experience. Hugh, our guide, has a ton of knowledge about Hawaii: folklore, history and of all the different plant species we encountered. Ask a question and he will have an... More

My husband and I took this tour as one of our only times 'alone' during our Big Island vacation. Our niece and aunt were watching our kids. It was about a 30 minute drive to Waimea from Waikoloa Beach Resort area to our mtg spot. that is where our guide, Hugh, took us in his van. We were with one... More

Hugh is the owner/operator of Hawaiian Walkways. We took a several hour tour with him (my wife and a lovely young lady from the UK) through the Waipio Valley. What an incrediable tour with a man who lives and breathes the place. We saw mountians, streams, waterfalls and plant life that without Hugh we would have never seen. He has... More
