I've visited the Center twice, most recently last week. It provides an extremely interesting perspective on the evolution of astronomical observatories on the Big Island, the use of the stars and other navigational techniques by "traditional" Polynesian voyagers, and related matters. While I have not...More

I went to the stargazing live presentation 1/27/17 and was disappointed. The young man who sold the ticket to me was too bored to answer any of my questions. The program started late and I listened to many disgruntled patrons about the process of getting...More

We found the center interesting and educational. This is a good activity for those rainy days in Hawaii. We viewed four presentations - two in 3D.

Not super cheap, but a nice museum with great interactive displays. Price of admissions includes a movie in the planetarium.

If you ever need a place to spend some quality time in rainy Hilo, go to Imiloa! Their astronomy/planetarium exhibits are current and topical. The interpretive center is great for every one! Friday night programs are varied and informative.

Lots of interactive displays to engage children. Fairly small but the price includes one planetarium show. After the show, the operator goes over the night sky and what you can expect to see that day, which was really cool. Great view of Hilo bay too.

We viewed to programs in the planetarium. The one o'clock show was Mauna Kea Skies. Very enjoyable and informative. The young lady that narrated and operated the shows was both knowledgeable and interesting. Great show for adults and kids.
