This is an amazing place with Hawaiian history and culture. The food in the restaurant is also fantastic - this is a "not to be missed" place to visit in Hilo.

The museum part was not impressive. It took just a few minutes to walk from one end to the other. There weren't enough activities to keep the children entertained. The show was engaging - Maunakea: Between Earth and Sky. In simple terms, it explained how...More

I really enjoyed all the interesting and wonderful items in the gift shop. I even did some of my Christmas shopping there! The exhibits were great as well.

I agree with the reviewer below who panned Imiloa: at $17.50 a head this is one giant ripoff. I know a bit about astronomy and was hoping to gain some new knowledge here. Ha! The astronomical science presented here is very, very shallow at best,...More

When we went....the next program, about 1 hour to wait was in Japanese and an hour for the program...so we would have had to wait 2 hours...too long we left.

This museum has some wonderful interactive exhibits and a planetarium. Great afternoon visit for kids of all ages. The Sky Garden Restaurant on site was a good place for lunch or dinner. Well worth the price of admission.

Loved the 3D planetarium shows, exhibits, gardens and informative, friendly staff. The restaurant is the BEST buffet in Hilo. 'Imiloa was a great educational experience for my family and I...will be back on our next trip to the Big Island. :)
