We stop here for a quick rest when coming home from Kona. It's a clean and refreshing park with good restrooms and picnic area. Nice playground for the kids. Lots of parking. Well maintained.

Has a restroom, playground, grass and parking lot. It's a stopping point to change into winter clothes before heading up to the higher altitude on Mauna Kea. It's a good place to stretch your legs or use the toilet when traveling between Hilo and Kona.

Driving along Saddle Road you will be able to enjoy great views of the diverse geology of the Big Island of Hawaii. As you proceed to the Mauna Kea Observatories, take a few minute to enjoy this park and it's amenities.

What a view! Stop at the observatory for an altitude adjustment before proceeding up Mauna Kea. When you arrive at the top, take it slow. You're 14,000 ft. up and the air is really thin. This is the pbest place on the planet for astronomers...More

The kids enjoyed the playground with all the spinning equipment. They had a bathroom, which the adults appreciated.

This place offers very clean restrooms and a large open area where you can stretch your legs, walk the puppies, and rest on the Saddle Road drive between Hilo and Kona/Waimea.

We were stopped from going to the summit due to the alloted amount of vehicles already there. We parked and walked the all up hill trail to the top of a butte and watched the sunset. Stay a bit longer until the stars are made...More
