My wife and I picked the cruise excursion that brought us here. The Wailuku River runs 18 miles and ends in the Hilo Bay. There are two landmarks at this park, although they are two miles apart. They are Rainbow Falls, named for the rainbow...More

Very nice park, Rainbow Falls was one of our favorites. Not far from downtown Hilo. Check out both of the viewing areas.

We had no problems finding the main attractions at Wailuku River State Park - Pe’epe’e Falls, Boiling Pots and Rainbow Falls. From downtown Hilo we followed Waiānuenue Avenue. The state park has great viewing areas for the falls and boiling pots. Parking and restrooms are...More

This beautiful park is a wonderful place steeped in Hawaiian legend and lore. Great for picnics and gentle hiking and picnicking (bring bug repellant!!!). The Hawaiians named this river "Wailuku" (Destruction Waters) for a reason - the river is deadly! "No swimming" signs are posted....More

No need to hike way into a park to see the attraction here. Just a short walk and if you want go way up to rop and into the woods a little bit is a huge banyan tree forest.

We went here with our kids in January and it's calm and not so many people. You can swim or dive in and at the end it's 3 waterfalls and we crossed the river and took a small walk here and spend 2-3hours. Not so...More

You have to get there early to see the rainbow because the rising sun causes the rainbow. You also need to get there before the buses arrive with the 1000's of tourist.

Just a mile away from Rainbow Falls further up Waianuenue Ave. is Boiling Pots at Wailuku River Stae Park. With lush tropical vegetation pretty much blocking the views of Boiling Pots, you can easily see Pe'epe'e Falls. There is free parking, an easy path to...More

You would be able at Rainbow Falls because there is a ramp that goes to the top viewing area. The lower walkway would be obstructed by the retaining wall. Boiling Pots and Pe'e P'e'e Falls I am not so sure of. I cannot... More
