It was pity it was Sunday when I visited this market, since Wednesday and Saturday was said to hold the biggest number of traders. However, there were many things which were worth taking look at. On the front side, fresh fruits and vegetbles are sold. We tried a cup of sliced pinapples, which was $3 for 2 cups! We could... More

We went to the farmers market in Waikoloa, Waimea and Hilo looking for papayas. Waikoloa 3 for $10, Waimea 2 for $6, Hilo 3 for $2. If you're in Hilo, it's a great place to get papayas for cheap. They also had the best vegetable selection and was the largest of the markets.

Don't miss it! Superb selection of fresh fruits and vegetables at very fair prices. Try something you've never had before (Lychee fruit for us) and you're in for a treat!! Stay Aloha! - EMCO & JACO

While we were excited with the idea of the farmers market when I saw the black and blue tarps overhead (I'm guessing for rain and shade) I questioned the colour choice. As I suspected the dark colours radiated the heat and many left me ducking to get past where they were tied to poles. In spite of the heat we... More

We went on a Wednesday morning, when more vendors are there, including soaps, clothing, t-shirts, jewellery, mac nuts, and much, much more. Loads of local artisans, and nice things to look at - and buy! The fruit and veg section is on one side of the street. Full of all the wonders of Hawaii, of course. Wish we had been... More

This farmers market also has displays from local craftsmen that are worth the drive to Hilo. It is absolutely entertaining and stimulating for the variety of jewelry makers, craftsmen working in Obsidian, historic Hawaiian tools and war clubs, and wood carvings. This is the best diverse outdoor market I have visited.

We shop at our local farmers market on the mainland regularly so were excited to check this out on our way to the volcano on a Saturday morning. We arrived about 7:45 and parked in the lot of the nearby park. The produce and to go food tents on the north side of the street were up and rolling, some... More

We were excited to see the hours start at 6 am on Saturdays. We showed up at 6:45 and there were very few vendors open. Disappointing because we had other plans for the rest of the day. From what we did see, there is a good (typical) variety of local fruits, vegetables, trinkets, as well as the usual tourist stuff.... More

This market is a must for anyone near Hilo on the days it's open, which I believe is Wednesdays and weekends. The fresh produce and the prepared foods and drinks are just THAT good. I've had everything from coconut milk taro to lupulu and goat cheese to drinking 'awa. You cannot beat the prices here. Across the street are crafts... More
