This is a great place to swim in Hilo, the water is deep enough, clean and brackish, which means some serious fresh cold water. Best to arrive early, before it gets too crowded. A lot of young locals feel this is their swimming/hanging area, and...More

Close to town with lots of space and shade. There are protected pools with big surf just outside them. So you can have a safe dip while looking out at the big waves. Lots of grass for the kids to play on. Quite nice.

Such a beautiful place with multiple pools of COLD, brackish water. Shallow areas for the younger kids and deeper areas for the older kids. Spots where one can jump from the rocks, but please, always jump with caution and check water depth before leaping. Enjoy.

Lovely place to walk, calm, locals paddle in kayaks and paddle board. Continue to the bay, pass hotels, deli, places to eat; see Japanese garden on your left.

This area holds the serenity and natural beauty of the Island. We have our local Powwow in September in this area. There is swimming available, fishing etc.

A small park that is a good jump off spot for surfers, but not a beach. The park fills up with a lot of "locals", if you get what I mean. Not always the friendliest environment. Common place for picnics and family get togethers, but...More
