We took a tour with Tropical Helicopters with a pilot named Daniel. Our pilot was great about keeping us informed about everything we could see below. I tend to be afraid of heights so I was surprised that I felt very safe and didn't have any motion sickness. We took a helicopter trip in Kauai previously that was nowhere near... More

The trip was fun and it was very safe and professional, The problem was all the circling made me and my wife nauseous. I never get sick. We went on a hell tour in kauai and we were both perfect. If I only had one hell tour to do the one on Kauai is way better!!!

I have a review under Paradise as well. Same staff. Same helicopters. Do not know why they operate under two names. Very nice and friendly staff. Very competent helicopter pilot. But we felt that somewhere along the way they were not honest with us. We booked an 8:30 a.m. doors off, feel the heat trip 38 hours ahead. Keep in... More

This was our second time flying with doors off on a helicopter excursion (the first on Kauai) and in our opinion it's the only way to go. Being over the lava and smelling the burning rain forest below us was really neat. It gave us a new appreciation for the power of mother earth. Our pilot Dan did a real... More

I highly recommend this 45 minute tour that originates from the Hilo airport. Very informative pilot who narrates during the trip. We opted to have the doors removed and this definitely heightens the experience though this isn't for everyone. Eye opener to view the devastation caused by the lava and to see an active lava flow.

We did not see much it was way windy & cloudy.Nothing like the ad says,it may have been due to weather,Our trip should have been canceled due to weather by Paradise Helicopters. We prepaid. That was a waste of $500(and 2 other people rode with us $1000 for 4 people abord)) for seeing not much.We took the morning trip 2/20/2013 Very disappointed... Our experiences with Tropical/Paradise Helicopters were awesome! Everyone that helps us were very nice. Our helicopter pilot, Joyce is great, friendly and nice, she make sure that both side of the helicopter riders get a good view of the flow. She would go over and over to make sure we see the once in a lifetime picture of it. Meeting... More

Friendly people for reservation... ready to sell you a tour even if they there is anything to see! When on board, you'll get a very short view of volcanoe. It is almost impossible to make good picture. Go for it only if you are totaly sure lava flow is on surface. Even then you'll se it for 5 to 10... More

Marco was a great heli- pilot. Take your doors off is the way to go. Please do not got be discouraged by the person whose review said it was "cold and hardly and lava-flow", well let me tell you, it is out of there control when the volcano is active and when it is not. Not only that if you... More

Well: 1. This company is more or less the same like Paradise Helicopter! They said that they are sister-company`s, only for informattion. 2. They advertised the "open-door-tour" as the "feel the heat-tour". But it was freezing cold, despite of the fact, that we were dressed warmer (more clothes), as suggested. 3. Right now there is only very little lava flow... More
