After contacting several outfits and asking questions we chose Paradise Helicopters. We needed a helicopter big enough for our group of 5, and we wanted window seats, and a discount because one in our party is a commercial pilot. They fit the bill. It was...More

We loved this! We got the doors off, apparently unique to this company! I was so scared of getting motion sickness as I have had it previously on helicopter tours of Grand Canyon and New York so I took some medicine but I don’t think...More

Everyone there was very helpful and informative. We did the open door flight and it was amazing. It does get cold up there so dress accordingly, we were surprised. We got great photos and loved every minute of it. Our pilot was amazing and we...More

What a great experience! The crew couldn’t have been more professional. This was a splurge for our family, but it was so worth it. It was the highlight of our trip to Hawaii.

We were really looking to this day as there had been quite a lot of volcanic activity recently. Unfortunately, on our day the volcano was having a quiet day. The views of the recent destruction and watching the steam venting from the underground flows into...More

Aloha 196JerryS, Although an apology will not alter the outcome of your experience, I do extend it with all sincerity. I understand the frustration, confusion and doubt in the beginning of your tour with us. The helicopter that conducted your tour was the MD500, and...More

We did the H500-D doors off tour and have NO regrets! This was an amazing experience flying over the lava fields and rain-forests. The ground personnel were very attentive and pleasant. The pilot was a bit dry with his script but the views more than...More

We were allowed to take smartphones on doors-off tour if using strap (they sold straps for $2 each at the desk)

Aloha!! Photography question... My wife and I have already booked a couple flights at the end of June - one in the morning and the other in the afternoon - can't wait!! Since I'm a "big" guy, I will have one of the back seats. I plan to bring along two DSLR cameras. One (Canon 6d) with my 24-70 wide angle lens and the other (Canon 7dMkII - 1.6x cropped sensor) with either the 70-200 or 100-400 zoom. I prefer to not swap lenses in the field - and never airborne with no doors. I am hoping to capture some "epic" lava shots. My "work" is all hobby - I never sell my photos, but I do donate large prints for charity and disaster relief fund raisers. I also plan to have a GoPro securely mounted on each camera for video - those will record the whole flight and I'll edit later. My iPhoneX will supplement wide shots, helicopter interior, and some video, and I will also see what I can get with a dedicated infrared 4/3's camera. Yes, all this gear will be tethered - I shoot near airplanes and on aircraft carriers - if you drop something there, they do not invite you back. Any (higher end) photo/gear tips would be greatly appreciated! Mahalo!!

Very Professional Organization. If the conditions aren't right they won't go. I recommend the 'Doors Off' Helicopter., definately worth the price of admission.
