Boy was my perception of lava wrong. So entranced to have Dreu, our driver of Wasabi tours, explain Hawaii's volcanos, show us the different types of volcanos and lava. Drove and stopped in several lava fields, to see close up and photo opportunities, of course....More

If you do nothing else in Hawaii - do this. I have no words that can adequately describe the power, heat, explosions of steam, red-hot lava straight from a National Geographic documentary. We rented bikes at the end of the road and rode them to...More

The whole reason for my trip to Hawaii Island was to see the lava flow. It was a fantastic experience! From the pictures I've seen, the lava viewing area has been the same for the past few months. It is quite a distance away from...More

Only place in the state to see an active volcano building more island layer by layer. You must go to see this natural phenomenon, you will not be disappointed. Remember to see the lava after sunset to see the magnificent glow of Pele's cauldron.

While on a cruise from Vancouver to New Zealand we stopped in Hawaii. While in Hilo, we had the opportunity to visit the Volcano National Park through a ship tour, but as we sailed away from the island, the captain decided that given the time,...More
