We took this trip at sunset to see the Kilauea lava flowing out of a tube. I've never seen anything like it, and likely never will again. We were right next to the lava, could feel it's heat, the water temperature was about 120 degrees. As dusk settled in, it glowed even more. I'm so glad I did this. Lava... More

The Captain and the crew did a great crew were great. They got us as close to the lava as was safe. The ride to and from was rough but if you listen to them you arrive back to land safe and sound. I have already been telling people to use them. Best way to see LAVA. You get as... More

We did the sunrise tour. This boat tour was as advertised in every way. exciting, wet, somewhat rough, but well worth doing! Shane and crew were very professional, helpful and friendly. The view of the lava dropping into the ocean and the steam and gas is magical. We were close and those on both sides had ample opportunity to see a... More

We were very impressed with Captain Shane, who was honest and straightforward about what to do, what to expect, and what we'd see on the tour. Most tour companies would have just shoved us into the boat after a two-minute pre-recorded speech about safety, but not these guys. Outstanding!

Not knowing what to expect I was impressed by this top notch professional company. Where many of the companies smaller wooden boats stayed a distance from the lava flow our metal, larger boat with 4 gigantic rear boat motors got really close. Great for photographers and anyone that wants to feel the heat and thrill of this amazing sight! Probably... More

We had booked a trip on a smaller boat but were notified that the wind and seas were going to be too much so the trip was cancelled. We were crushed. We quickly looked Lava Ocean tours on Google and happily found out that they had 4 spaces left for the next morning sunrise tour. Yes, it was very windy... More

This trip was as advertised. Very rough and wet boat ride, hang on with both hands, soaking water sprays. It was epic close up viewing of molten lava spewing like a fire hose out of the sea wall into the surging ocean. Magnificent. I've been coming to Hawaii for 40+ years and this was the most impressive view of Mother... More

This tour was the highlight of our Hawaii trip. We did Zipline, Waterfalls, Pearl Harbor, etc and this was by far the best money spent. So good I would go back again - absolutely brilliant.

The lava flow during January 2017 was huge--a busted levee of yellow and red hot magma that tossed water, steam and small rocks 200 feet into the air. Never, so we were told, has the lava flow been so vivid and our pictures stunned our friends--we were about 200 feet away and could feel the heat. The boat is a... More
