Coconut island offers a beautiful walk along the Hilo bayfront along with neighbouring Liliuokalani park. Definitely worth a stroll.

Beautiful Park located adjacent to Banyan drive and downtown Hilo. A great place to wander around and watch the waves. We hung out here a couple of times during our trip and relaxed in the sun. The signs on the trees tell of the wave...More

We enjoyed watching this park from our hotel room. We went over on a weekend. It was great, many locals with families picnicking and swiping. The history of the spot is great. It was great to walk out to the point and see the lava...More

We had lunch at Hilo Bay Cafe and took a nice long walk afterwards. We decided to take the bridge and walk to this cute little island that seems to be a local favorite for diving, sunbathing, hanging out. This little island affords great views...More

We combined Coconut Island with the stroll through the nearby Japanese garden and used one of the available table for a picnic lunch. Nice bay views.

I think I read some history about this, but forgot what it might be. Didn't see any signs to remind me. As a park it is ok, nice views of Hilo and the bay.

Small island accessible by footbridge. Has restrooms, playground, opportunity to swim and launch watercraft. Scenic. An easy walk from downtown Hilo hotels.

We were able to walk to the small island from our hotel, it was a beautiful day. It has a small area that you can swim or kayak from. Large grassy area would be great for a picnic lunch.
