Worth the visit

It is a bit of a climb to the top, but the view from there is worth it. Great location for pictures or to just rest and take in the view. Small cafe on the premises, too.

This waterfall is on the Hilo side of the island and is right off the road. Nice parking and bathrooms. No hike to the falls. Nice place for a photo op.

Totally agree with others that say go early, you will miss the buses and see the rainbow. There is good parking and a short walk to see the falls.

The flora and fauna are spectacular! Some young folks actually climb the lava rocks to refresh in the purest pools on The Planet. But as I watch, I feared somebody would flow right over the falls out of one of the several pools that cascaded down the lava laden mountain side. But remember, to see a rainbow the sun must... When I was younger I always used to watch Fantasy Island. I always thought how beautiful the waterfalls were on opening video , come to find out they were filmed on the island of Hawaii. It was a real thrill for me to go see these Falls and they were no less beautiful in person.

Not many cities have waterfalls in their city limits, but Hilo has a few. Rainbow falls is the most popular, but there are a couple of more just minutes away. Very pretty.

Very pretty falls.. you can hike up to the top, and look at the from the bridge. Tourist stop .. not worth the 15 minutes we spend there.

Very easy to view, you don't have to hike to find it and it's free to see. Very beautiful scenery also has really cool trees.

Rainbow Falls was one of the early attractions I went to & rain wasn't gonna stop us from seeing the sights. Well turned out that in the rain the river waters become brown & falls come over many big rocks creating 5 or more falls. The force of river waters coming was intense to see the Power of Nature in... Worth the stop. The falls are beautiful and make for a good photo stop. If you have the time, take the short hike to the Banyan Tree.
