We are a non profit 501 3(c) educational and cultural facility set within a 7 acre Botanical Garden. We recently added a lovely gift shop and free coffee tasting. We offer self guided tours with an affordable admission and discounts for seniors, military and Kama'aina. Gently slopping land, mature shade trees, and expansive views from Kealakekua Bay to Place of Refuge allow one to wander through beautiful tropical displays and manicured foliage.Unique statuary, petroglyphs and the worlds only Galaxy Garden done in rare hibiscus provide great photo opts!

We visited this beautiful garden sanctuary during our recent trip to the Big Island. A sense of peace and tranquility pervades the gardens. There are many beautiful flowers to see and photograph, and a variety of religious and cultural shrines from the Far East and Pacific. The grounds feature a scenic vista of Kealakekua Bay and the Captain Cook memorial.

We discovered this gem on our way to see the Painted Church about a mile down the road. A variety of flowers and trees many well marked. Benches for sitting and meditating in the different garden areas. Our favorite was the galaxy garden where we saw several yellow-billed cardinals by the water fountain.

Terrific and surprising place. Lots of Tibetian art work, specially sand paintings. The garden is laid out extremely well. The flowers were blooming in all kinds of color. Flower and plant maze was great to explore. Be sure to set aside an hour or so for this sight.

There is a lot of history here and an education to be had. This is a state park so there is a $5.00 admission fee. There are staff that will explain what is there and what it meant to those who were there. Is it beautiful? Yes, mother nature and Pele beautiful since there is a large lave flow that... More

This place is a treasure tucked away in the forested volcanic slopes near Captain Cook. We spent an hour and a half ambling the grounds, studying signs to identify different tropical plants, walking labyrinths, and simply sitting on shaded benches to try to get birds to linger long enough so we could try to identify them. The woman on staff... More

Paleaku Peace Gardens is an interesting and informative botanical garden with yoga classes, a large library,  parrot, koi pond, lava tube with petroglyphs, a Galaxy Garden, shrines for many of our world's religions. Also, included in the gift shop are souvenirs, hand made jewelry, and knick knacks that are very reasonably priced.  The garden is divided in several different sections,... More

Well I just wanted to see a botanical garden, but was so glad to end up in these gardens. They are spiritually beautiful, the colour and vibrant feel is overwhelming. I loved the quiet reading room, just contemplated the mandelas in the big book!

If you are looking for beautiful trees and flowers -- you will find them here. If you enjoy watching and listening to birds -- you will find them here. There is a sweeping vista down to the Pacific Ocean. I particularly enjoyed sitting in a natural 'sanctuary' in the center of a spiral of shrubs and flowers and experiencing the... More
